Why is the regulator before the rail and not after?

Because there is a mechanical fuel pump driven off the intake cam gear and the fuel does care which way it flows.

I think thats the wrong kind of sprkng for that. He needs a compression spring, thats an expansion spring.. stretching it out would have unpredictable results.
or do mine eyes deceive me?

You're probably right I just glanced at it and thought MBC haha.

The rest of the parts do heavily suggest mbc. Either the spring is incorrect or this is a mbc configuration i have never seen..

Yup, it's a manual boost controller.

The spring gets stretched as per the JS (Justin Sane [ha ha, get it?!]) boost controller DIY video. I might swap the one I have in there later on since it is (even after stretching and relaxing it) such a high rate spring.

I pulled the exhaust mani, turbo and most the fuel system and coil pack ( for relocation ) ..... getting ready to pull the head off. Also cleaned O2 housing w/ atmosphere dump and cleaned up turbo housing and exhaust mani for high temp paint or maybe ceramic coating not sure yet.

Today I picked up a 7/8" MC from an 03 Lancer for my brake booster delete (yay for factory parts).
I also got my Corolla LED projectors test mounted and did a bit of wiring junk.

Put on new NGK plug wires, cleaned up the engine compartment and interior and took the Talon to a local car show. Was the only DSM there around lots of muscle. Car looked great and lots of lookers. Took 2-3 dozen great pictures of the event only to get home and find out I didn't have my sd card in my 35mm digital camera.....dam!

Just finding this thread sooooo I'm going to cover my last two weeks.

My recently purchased 96 TSi spun a rod bearing, so I decided to pull the motor from my 95 TSi and do a minor rebuild and put it in my 96. Pulled the Donor motor and discovered that it had walked, and one rod had just begun to spin. Two dead DSMs.

Bought a 1G 7 Bolt from Craigslist that has some nice internals and was recently machined to throw in my 96. I've cleaned it and most of assembly is complete. I will clean head and torque it down tomorrow and install belt and accessories. I hope to have it in the car this time next week. The 96 was pretty much stock so I have to decide how much I want to delete. I'm not subject to inspections or emissions so I could get away with whatever I want. Maybe I kill the emissions and keep my A/C as its my DD.

Today I watched the eBay turbo the previous owner installed start smoking. New charger is in the works, a REAL one.. Waiting on FP mani to show up to start the hotside swap.

Recently moved to a new house with my OWN GARAGE First time in 10 years I can work on it inside!

So just getting ready to start and finish some projects up. Pulled the oil pan and replaced it, had some rust forming through the middle that was flaking into the oil. Rebuilt my T25 not too long ago, I know it is a turbo that most do no care about, but it will be used on a Civic project in the next year or two, and on my Talon while all other issues are ironed out. Replaced the intercooler pipes with aluminum piping, and swapped to a crushed 1g BOV. Also just did an oil catch can and the PVC upgrade with the check valve.

Oh, also just bought a radio that retailed over $1000 in 1999 It's a Pioneer P8800, double-din CD/Cassette; came with manual, harness, remote, and original box for $15! Putting that in this week, along with a Kicker 4-channel amplifier. Need to find some sick cassettes now!

Odd. Why wouldnt you just use the common and predictable rate of a compression spring? They cost the same, can be clipped for size, have a fairly linear compression rate, and you don't run the risk of deforming it when pulling it apart..

Pulled the bumper and FMIC off my donor for a transplant. Cleaned and preped them for install while I wait for the last few parts (I hope) for my engine build to come in. I'd do more cleaning of parts but I need a real compressor first. Damn things aren't cheap.

Ran the new motor today. So far so good. Hopefully I'll finish the break in tomorrow, and then change the oil.
