i was wondering what mods i need to do to get better traction. I have an awd car, but when i hit full boost in 2nd my front wheels seems to be slipping like crazy, almost like a wheel hop. it shskes the front of my car violently!!! it only does it though when i am under or near full boost( 14 psi). what can i do to eliminate this? i have bfg g force tires on it now along with 17" rims. those are my only suspension mods i have made. what else can i do to get better traction under hard acceleration? is this a normal problem?

How many miles are on your current suspension setup. You are probably sqawting so bad when you boost that there is no weight on your front tires causing you to spin, wheelhop etc. Get a nice set of coilovers or strut/lowering spring combo.

ok. so what set up should i go with? ebiach pro kits sems nice? are they good? i plan to mostly drag race the car. with asome amount of strret driving. what is the best spring/ strut combo?

Your best bet is to uput full coilover setup. Megan Racing for example. They are cheap, reliable and should meet your goals. Alsi if you can afford it change all of the bushings and motor mounts with polyurethane ones and don't forget to get an wheel aligment.

Coil overs are nice but they aren't that cheap. The Eibach ProKits with KYB AGXs work well. Also, swap out the factory rubber suspension bushings/motor mounts for some poly ones.

viscous in my tranny of in my rear end? thew tranny shifts good and i haven't had any problems out of it. the car pulls hard but it shudders when i take off. i have even had it do this some times in higher gears under hard acceleration. it is still cold here though so the road / tires are not warm.

In your profile it states you have a 4 puck clutch disc, which would be very likely to chatter when you're taking off/slipping the clutch. I highly doubt you are spinning the tires in second especially on dry ground.

I'm going to assume it shutters when you take off from a stop or go into the next gear, is this right?

sorry bout that, i have a 6 puck clutch in my car. it as soon as i get the clutch all they way out and get into it so i build boost it starts to shudder. only when i try and accelerate fast though. it does not do it at all if i take off slow. it happens even if i start from a roll in 1st.

i thinki it might have happened once in a higher gear but i am not sure. i know for a fact it does it in 1,2, and 3rd sum times right after i shift

A lightly modded dsm shouldn't be spinning tires that easily in first. Sounds like your AWD isn't functioning correctly, or maybe your clutch is slipping. Have you tried launching? Does the car hook at all or does it just spin? May be a vicous or center diff issue.

If your going to go with Coils, I'd Recommend GroundControl's With Some KYB AGX's

I wouldn't. Valving is way to harsh for anything other than a light drop (I.E. Prokits). However, my GC/AGX combo was AWESOME for the first month I had them installed. We had a weird cold front and my AGX's were done for. Spend your money on Konis if you're gonna go the GC route.

it for sure will spin in 2nd. i can launch the car pretty hard and it doesn't seem to slip in 1st. as soon as i hit boost in 2nd it slips. I am still breaking my clutch in. i have 425 out of 500 miles of the break in done.

Why not get into the coilover group buy that's going on right now? http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/vendor-announcements/289846-k-sport-coilover-group-buy-2-a.html
That is an awesome solution for the suspension setup.

I would suggest first checking your rear diff, transfer case, and viscous coupler though. There is no reason that he front would be spinning like that unless there is absolutely no weight on the front end. Even still, if the differential, coupler, and transfer are working the front shouldn't dramatically spin unless at least one of the rear tires is free spinning as well.

The chatter could very well be bushings. Have you checked the control arm and the other chassis bushings?

i have not checked my bushing yets, i started looking today and found out i have bad ball joints on my lower control arms, so i ordered new ones. could that cause the vibration durring accerlation?

How much have you been hitting boost while you've been breaking in your clutch?

Did the ball joints have play or were the boots just torn? Short answer is no it wouldn't. I would put my money on the viscous coupling like several others have said. They are only about $80 or so and it take all of a half hour to change.

He is saying that he can launch in first and it doesn't spin, but once he gets into second it will. That sounds like the clutch is slipping.

The tires are much more likely to spin in 1st gear if anything than 2nd and they don't. There is more load on the clutch in second gear, causing the clutch to slip. If you "broke in" the clutch by doing launches etc it could very well be slipping, and when puck styles slip they tend to chatter.

Some other things you can check though are the front axles and perhaps lug nuts. Make sure the CV boots are not torn.
