i got 9k what to do/get

i got 9k to spend im looking to get a eclipse/talon maybe first gen.turbo is a must but i dunno what i should look for getting a gsx or gst?can u all help me to figure what to get.
 
weather u get a 1g or a 2g definatally get a GSX. And if u have 9000 the car will only be about 3k to 4k so you will have a good amount of money to start with! But with 9k u might want a newer 2g for looks but its up to you. With that amount of $ u can do what ever u want to!!
 
get a 90-94 GSX, Eagle Talon TSi AWD, or Plymouth Laser RS-AWD. After you get it.. save the rest of the money and start to learn about DSMs before you start modding. :D
 
What do you plan on doing with the car? If you plan on drag racing then go with the GSX. Once you buy the car you should have quite a bit of money left over so start learning about DSM's and figure out where you want to spend the rest of the money. :thumb:
 
well im planning on racing the car mainly 1/4.but like i wanna go really fast i got a 93 3kgt vr4 so u can tell i come from a powerful car.im looking into first gen for a little more mainly look,not the popup headlight ones but the ones with an accual headlight no pop ups.but i can barely find them.but im looking into reliable,like whats big issues with them?should i look into another car?like wit my vr4 it breaks a good bit but its still hella fast so i will fix it.with the car im looking into a gsx with mods how fast can i be looking at like 11's?10's?wats the biggest turbo upgrade taht can be still used on the street and not have full boost till like 6k.i hear eclipse's crankwall is there a way to get around that?is there like a set list of mods if u do them ull run this time?like whats a good ebc,bov,turbo,intake,manifold's,exhaust. im also looking into standalone so dont need a safc2 or nothing.but need info thanks
 
There are SOOO many different combinations of the parts you were enquiring about from SOOO many different companies. It's a little difficult to answer a question like "which is the best ______" If there was a definite answer as to which is the best, there would be no need for this forum. Just a single-page internet site that says "Buy this and go this fast."

Look at timeslips of cars on this forum and check out there mods, then ask them what kinds of experiences they've had in getting their cars there. Every single person will have different answers, but you will be able to form your own conclusion as to what you should do.
 
well yea a nice mustang would be nice.i looked into a 93 cobra o so nice but in the winter i cant drive it cuz its rwd thats alittle to hard in the snow.well from being on here i think i found a nice 93 gsx modded aint bad i dont think.but is there anywere i can get pics or stats on the different things in the first gens?
 
there's a model guide here on this site. Personally I would get a 2g GSX if you have the money, simply because generally they will have lower miles, which MAY eqaute to less abuse, but we know how that works and obviously won't hold true for many cars. But many people say that the 1gs react better to mods than their 2g counterpart does. Yet, you can still get a 2g and have some money left over. As for reliability, that is the downfall of the DSMs.
 
for what its worth, i bought my 98 Spyder GST 5 Speed in excellent condition with 63,500 miles for $9k...that was like half a year ago.
 
well i was looking at those race motors that are sold here like the 2.4 liter's andstuff i think if i can find a good shell and drop one in i should be ok right?cuz i would rather have the motor built to handle w/e i can through at it verse having huge turbo and add ons and the motor blow every week
 
now say u build a gsx and a gst to same specs as in motor and turbo and such and race them in the 1/4 then the highway which will win?
 
1g awd gets my vote :thumb: , I had both a 2g awd, sold it and got a 1g awd. Not as sexy but much more fun. But I would advise that you do your homework before getting one. Good luck :thumb:
 
thanks for all the good luck wishes.im tring to learn on these cars but i need some simple shit "like if u do this,this happens." if there a photo gallery or something to tell the difference in years in the eclipse,talon i like the one with rounded headlights and tail lights in the first gen but i dunno what years they were made.also whats the stock turbo handle in psi?wats the best bpu stuff for a almost stock gsx?
 
90-91=pop ups and 6 bolt motor
92= round headlights, some have 6-bolts, some have 7's
92-94= round headlights. all 7 bolt's.

I'd agree, except the fwd/awd thing isn't a myth. A friend and I proved it tonight...I smoked him from a roll, he smoked me from a dig.

If you find a good AWD though, go for it.

EclipseTrbo420A-im north up in cranberry.but where are u im in pgh alot cuz of work and stuff.if u ever go to the southside of pittsburgh at a place called paparazzi's its my uncles joint so i work out side selling pizza and such.

sk8er-when u say some 6 then theres a 7 bolt is one better?wats the highs and lows?

can anyone get me a pic of a eclipse front and rear of the 1gen styles so i can see which one i like and i can ask more things just to that year.
 
I agree that a GSX would be the best choice, hell it should be the only choice. Just dont expect to be reacing into the 10's and even 11's with just "some mods". Its going to take a lot of work to get into the 11's, and even more to get into the 10's.
