What all mods do I need to rev to 9k safely?
Im going to get bc 280/280 cams. Also springs and retainers.
What else?

What turbo, and intake manifold are you going to run? It take a fairly large turbo to make power at 9,000 rpms. Anything smaller than a 40r sized turbo would be running out of breath by then.

Thinking of pte 6266 but come to realize its prob to small. Hx40 or 42r is next on list with 1200cc injectors. Magnus smim will be choice of intake mani.
Is anyone on here running up to 9k?

Yes several of us are. What need do you have for the rpm, other than to say I rev to XXXXX rpm?

The HX40 and 42R are worlds apart by the way.. and a 6266 is a bit bigger on both sides than an HX40. To take advantage of any of these you will likely need to step up to E85 or race gas.

1200cc injectors won't be enough on E85 for a HX40 or larger turbo on kill.

You may wish to do some more research.

Damn. Didnt want to have to beef up everything. How far can you take stock bottom end?
Ill be getting a shep trans later in future.

Around 8-8500 with upgraded main and rod bearings. I wouldnt though personally.

And thats on a fresh engine. But with the need for a larger turbo to even use that rpm range, you would still need a built bottom end

Ditch the BC cams. GSC S2's or Kelford 272's should get you there, Kiggly Beehives should be good on springs, and then like was said before: some good head-work and a good tune. The stock bottom end can take a pretty good beating before it let's go. I used to take it to 7600 on stock springs, 8800-8900 on Evo 8 springs and retainers...but then again, I didn't care about what happened. I just made good power up top. Also, IMO a Magnus street intake would not suffice, I would run their race SMIM.

I just want to rev that high. Seen a youtube video with an evo takes his car beyond 9k to like 11k it was sick. Overall goal is only 450hp dd.

Dumb question, whats this kiggly beehive? Ill upgrade the main and rod bearings.

Thats a ton of expense and unnecessary wear for only 450whp and bragging rights of a high redline ROFL

9k Rpm and DD don't mix well. I think you're attempting this for all the wrong reasons.

Guess it depends on how you drive.. DD'd a 59mm T4 turbo on some blocky cams turning it to 9250 in 2nd/3rd a few times a week.

Your prob right. Just didnt even think it was possible. Thats crazy talk. I willl be happy with 450hp dd for now. Later after i had my fun i might start building a race motor.

Drive a Honda comes to mind...only reason to rev that high is for drag racing. U would need a properly setup rotating assembly. A setup head. Cams, intake then turbo and then tune it all. Just because you saw a evolution do and think its sick does not mean its the right thing to do. I know one person that revs to 9700. He's making 700hp on a 35R and runs race gas. And its a race car.

Those cars weren't just revving that high for fun. They rev that high to take advantage of their setup. With a large turbo that doesn't spool till 5k you wouldn't want to shift at 7500, that's only 2500rpm of useable power. With something like a 16g your running out of steam by 6-7k rpm, so revving that high would just be making noise and waiting to shift. So your redline depends on your entire setup.

And just an FYI, those Evo's that rev to 11k have built long-rod "destroker" engines. It's not just cams and springs. They are designed to rev that high and still make power using large frame turbos.

Ill take it one step at a time see where i end up. I would rather have reliable dd than a 1g that revs to 9k. Once in a while. I want to be able to drive my car and beat shit out of it without having to worrt bout breaking something.

If you beat on it, it will break.

If you want a solid dependable DD, then build for that. 400hp on a DD can be done.

If you want a toy to take and beat on, that you do not have to depend on taking you to work, school, then build that.

Absolutely! Also depends on the state of health your motor is in. It sounds like he plans on doing some headwork and freewheeling it every chance he gets. Quite a few people on this site have a LONG way to go before revving to 9k, and all on a on a daily at that.

That was the idea. Take it 9k when i want to cause i could. My motor has been rebuilt with 0 miles on it. My clutch is giving me issues so i ordered a clutch masters fx400? Its a 6 puck with 170% more holding force than stock. Soon as i get it in ill break it in then have some fun. My next mod will be ecmlink.

Well assuming your profile is up to date, you weren't going to take that 2.3 up to 9k on a daily basis and expect it to last too long...Link is a good purchase.
