9K rpm

Hey, i have two 95 eclipses' and they are both non turbo but i notices that one of them redlines at 6.5k on the rpm gauge and the other one redlined at 7k on the rpm gauge and now i am wondering why is that and is there anything different with the engines. Thanks!

Are they both the same year? It may just be a year change in guage style or something like that. There shouldnt be any difference in the engines.

Post pics and the 8th digit of your VIN. This is your engine code. If the code is the same, then it's irrellevant as to what the tach says. Most likely one is a sohc and the other is dohc? The 420a came in both varieties. I'm not so sure it was this way in the Eclipse but it sure is in the Neon where the 420a also resides. Plus this is more closely associated with the Cirrus/Stratus.

Are both your cars manual? I think stick 420A's redlined at 7000 and auto redlined at 6500. I know my 95 N/T manual redlines at 7000. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Manual-7,000

That's every Eclipse/Talon I've ever seen.
