i got 9k to spend im looking to get a eclipse/talon maybe first gen.turbo is a must but i dunno what i should look for getting a gsx or gst?can u all help me to figure what to get.
 
get a 92 with a 6 bolt motor and the 4 bolt limited slip rear. 3 bolts are before 92 and are not as strong. a 92 like this isnt too rare and its the best 1g dsm to get.

That'll give you a basic idea for looks... one thing it leaves out is that the spyder comes in a GS and a GS-T the GS-T being the turbo model. I really dig the 2gb (97-99) body style personally, and I'm in the process of gathering required parts to make a spyder GSX...

I'd stick with a 1G unless you are just wanting the new body or a drop-top. GSX is the way to go too. I wish spyders came with AWD :mad:
I don't forget the spyders.... and they might not come that way, but you can make them that way... I'm picking up a rear-ended 95GSX for $2k with a working motor and entire drivetrain, minus a couple go fast parts (intercooler, turbo, big injectors, exhaust have been removed)

Some things to know - GSX has a lot of drivetrain loss... true, to a point, there's more drivetrain to turn, so there will be some loss, but you make up in traction... when you're building up a motor, you can compensate for the drivetrain loss by putting out more power... Spyder weights more... yes and no... the spyder really doesn't weigh much more than the GSX... so if you're down for just a FWD you can trim the weight off that way... but it shouldn't be that big an issue... the 1g is lighter than the 2g. 7 bolt motor is prone to crankwalk... there are a dozen different theories on why it walks and how it walks... but there isn't an accepted reason/fix... the 6bolt *can* walk to, but it's rare, and makes it a preferred motor to have... you want a 2g exhaust housing, as the 1g is more prone to cracking... look for a cyclone intake if you can, they're less restrictive...

Everything you need to know is in the forum, just go through the tech articles, there's a upgrade path that shows you what you need to do, in order to upgrade your car... This site is packed with info...

Bad advice! A GSX has a a very small amount more drivetrain loss than a GST. Forget the cyclone intake, that's a waste/nightmare.

I second this. People don't think at first glance that 1gs look nice...personally every time I see one on the street I love it. It looks aggressive, it looks mean, and I love the styling. I just bought the 2G because the body kits out for it look better. (just kidding :p )
1gs are hot and you'll have enough left over to build it up pretty well. Have fun!
