what can i do to get more traction?

i was wondering what mods i need to do to get better traction. I have an awd car, but when i hit full boost in 2nd my front wheels seems to be slipping like crazy, almost like a wheel hop. it shskes the front of my car violently!!! it only does it though when i am under or near full boost( 14 psi). what can i do to eliminate this? i have bfg g force tires on it now along with 17" rims. those are my only suspension mods i have made. what else can i do to get better traction under hard acceleration? is this a normal problem?

Agreed with Mr. Peepers. A 14b at 14psi should not be making any wheelspin in 2nd gear, unless you're in the snow.

i have been trying to drive easy on it so far. i go into it for the first time after i had put 375 miles on it and it did it. i have been babying it since and trying not to tear anything up. i am going to keep driving it in hopes sthat it is th clutch and that more miles will break it in more.

He is saying that he can launch in first and it doesn't spin, but once he gets into second it will. That sounds like the clutch is slipping.

I'm not surprised it was slipping if he's been doing launches while still in the breaking-in period. I didn't hit the slightesty bit of boost until I had broken it in properly.

Not trying to preach, but couldn't you have waited that extra 125 miles and then started to go into boost little by little? Your clutch would thank you a lot more that way.

BTW, city miles are what break in a clutch. You need stop and go driving, driving on the highway will do nothing.

well crap! i think i screwed up bifg time on this one. i am going to drive super carefull from now on . i hope i did not screw anything up!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks for the advice guys! theres never a problem to big or small for you guys!!! i am going to do as much stop and dgo driving as i can and put on some extra brerak in miles. hopefully that will solve my problem. i am gonig to fix my ball joints any ways, i get a shake around 60mph crusiing and it is due to bad ball joints. agian thanks. any more advise is greatly appriciated-paul

ok one more question to pose to you guys....if i decide to go a head and upgrade my suspension in the future what are the things i need to do so that i can make my car handle better and achevie better launches. i plan to mostly drive the car on the strret and at the drag strip in the summers.

sounds like the suspension may be kinds tight, New shocks maybe? Im lost without seeing it

A good shock/strut or coilover combo and replace any worn bushings. Good tires are a must too. How much would you be looking to spend?

Bigger rear sway bar is a nice touch for handling also.

im not sure on a budget yet. i would guess around $200 for a nice set of spring and some where in the same neighborhood for a good set of sturs. but im bnot sure, still need to do more pricing / performance research
