Not the click but the fan like noise

I'm hearing a crickets-like sound, or the sound young frogs make in spring. Sounds like something's slipping, but more the way a non-toothed belt makes a slipping sound. Could there be a bad or over-tightened bearing or idler somewhere? When was the TB and everything else there replaced?

Got lots of ideas but not sure if any of them would actually be your problem. ;-)

However, the most common noise from the timing belt end that could be called frog-like (as XC92 did above) would be the alternator belt slipping. This is worst when the engine is started, usually goes away quickly as the battery gets recharged.

Another weird noise from that end is one I have right now: The A/C idler pulley and belt are both rubbing on the lower timing cover.

Good luck with it -- noises can drive you slap crazy.

When my alt belt slips it's a high-pitched whining sound that's easily recognizable as belt slip, and is not the sound I hear above. And right now my own car makes 4 or 5 weird sounds that I've yet to properly track down and figure out. Older cars have gremlins and they make weird sounds.

If I understand correctly, it's the chirping sound (like crickets). If so, you should probably chime in and let us know for sure. Maybe it's not that noise that you're worried about...? I'd add "belt dressing" to all of the accessory belts, one at a time, and see if that changes anything. If we know it's belt noise vs something else, that would help.
FWIW, I've never heard that sound (cricket chirp) before on a DSM. Seems to only occur under load (while first revving). If it's a belt, then I'd suspect an issue with whatever that particular chirping belt is driving...maybe that device is wearing out and can't keep up with the revs. Dunno. Adding belt dressing one item at a time would let you tie the sound to the driven part.

Its the exhaust gasket or the turbo gasket. Check it and report back K thanks :)

How often if ever is either supposed to be serviced, e.g. cleaned, lubed, gaskets replaced, etc.?
