wastegate Problem..HELP

OK so I got my exhaust housing off and was going to start porting and then I noticed that there is a little space showing through where the flapper sits onto the wastegate hole. I also noticed that part of my exhaust housing is cracked inside. I know the flapper should totally cover that hole but would it be fine to just put it back onto the car?

It might lose a little boost, but other than that it should be fine. If the crack penetrates completely, then no, you should replace. If not, then bolt up IMO.

- I am going to be running a 14b. And the circle part of the wastegate is not totally covered all the way by the flapper when the flapper is closed. There is a little space in the top left corner of the circle that you can see through when the flapper is shut. So yes there is actually a space all the way through, but its not really a crack. It must have shifted a little bit when the other parts cracked, and now it doesnt have a full closed seal like it should. Ill try and get pictures up If i can if that will help u guys.

The crack might just be a surface crack, and if thats the case, then porting would get rid of the crack. You could always pick up another wastegate at the junkyard or on ebay.

I can see light all the way through looking at the flapper that doesnt totally cover the wastegate hole, from the downpipe side. (with the downpipe off)

dont worry about it....wont hurt anything...mine is like that and boosts just fine.

With the flapper like that, it will definately be a big source of turbo lag.

well I just ported the hell out of it, so I think that will make up for some of that turbo lag, if there is any.
