the guy i just bought the car from has an aftermarket boost gauge installed on the 92 gsx i just bought from him, but i guess he doesnt trust it because if he did he would have noticed that the boost doesnt stop increasing when u give it full throttle.
I dont know if its a wastegate problem or what at this point, but all i know is when u give it full throttle the boost just keeps going, right when i bought the car i drove it and punched it in second gear and at about 5 grand the boost gauge read almost 20 psi it scared the living hell out of me.
the boost gauge is accurate i had it checked out so right now i'm puzzled as to why it has infinate boost.
one thing that was really confusing was that after i notcied this boost problem i went under the hood and found that the wastegate host and the turbo line and the intake canister were wired to this hidden little "HKS EVC" device right behind the right headlight frame. I'm not exactly sure but i guess an evc is some sort of boost controller? i'm guessing that the first owner of this car put it in and when he sold it to the man i just recently purchased it from he took the electronic read out with him, i'm guessing that because i found a wire running from the evc through the firewall to under the center console where a bare plug sits.
So i unplugged the EVC from the vacuum hoses and wastegate actuator and still i had infinate boost. But i also notcied that under the hood theres that little sticker that shows the alligment of all the hoses from the turbo and wastegate and everything, and on there it says that the wastegate actuator is teed into the turbo hose and then plugged into the stock BCS (boost control Solenoid) which is then plugged into the air canister. Now i would do all that, but it seems that when the person who installed this HKS EVC installed it, he trashed the BCS so now i dont have anything to plug the teed actuator and boost lines togehter.
I tried taking the WG actuator and plugging it straight into the turbo host, thinking that the turbo hose when under boost would deliver whatever boost its running to the wastegate and let it do its job, but now i'm thinking do i always need some type of solenoid to control it? whether it be a boost controller or the stock BCS?
Any suggestions are appreciated feel free to ask me any questions about the car and its shape, this is just a really long story and i tried to keep it as short as possible for all of u to read, in the process i might have missed some very important pieces of information i should have given u so if i left anything out that i should tell u just ask me i'll reply as soon as possible.
