wastegate flapper. GONE

so im pretty positive i have found the root of all my boosting problems. in pulling off the manifold today i discovered i don't have a flapper in the internal wastegate. my question now. is this easily fixable with a new flapper and simple spot weld?

If you have the rod in there you could do it. Or you could switch an external wastegate.

yea the arm is still in good shape. fully functioning

If you switched to external you would have to weld your internal shut. Unless you run the wastegate after the hotside which doesnt really make sense but sone people do it. Lol if you didn't weld it you would never create boost.

You can weld a new flapper to the arm.

I would take this oppertunitity to upgrade to a 34mm flapper(you might be able to find it for cheaper):
Forced Performance Turbochargers: FP 34mm Wastegate Flapper

Also take the time to port the wastegate hole, and inlet of the turbo.

I would argue running the external off the o2 housing makes more sense (I run it off the o2 housing), not in the case of custom tubular manifold.

no for now im going to stay internal. ill be going to stm(local mitsubishi store/performance shop) getting the manifold and inlet gasket. and then going to ask them about if they can weld in a new flapper. what are the gains of porting. i understand the concept opening up for more airflow more hp etc.

Lol I'm was thinking he was swotching to a tubular. Ya not off the stock o2. I would upgrade to a tubular and go external. Once you run external you will never want internal again
