like the title says i want to get a front mount for my daily driven 2g i dont need a super large intercooler so i will save myself 300+ dollars and put it else where into the car so i am looking at either getting a vrsf intercooler or a punishment racing. all feed back is welcome as long as it not stuff like " just get a ets kit " and so on. both kits have there ups and downs but i need to buy with in the next 72 hours.

The punishment racing is not on back order and is easier to install and you get to keep your fogs.

I can not offer anything constructive about VRSF as I have no experience with them however I do own a PR kit and thus car have been VERY pleased with it on my 1G. Excellent bargain in my opinion.

I have had the vrsf fmic kit on my previous gst and i am currently running the pr kit on my current dsm, both kits are good, but as always, each has their cons.

Pr kit lets you keep your fogs and is really easy to install, the vrsf kit requires you to relocate your coolant overblow bottle and grind through your radiator support to allow for the cold i/c pipe to go through.

Wether you want fogs and a decently sized fmic that's easy to install or simply don't care about fogs and like a big monstrous fmic core is up to you.

I can say from having had both kits, i prefer the pr kit.

Im using the VRSF kit and love it... Looks Beautiful in the front of the car and it isnt hard to install at all and believe it handles a little more power to give you room to grow for a Great price!

I thought about the PR kit but decided against it since I wanted short route piping and a big FMIC..

All about what you want with these 2 kits

Does the Punishment Racing FMIC for the 1G allow you to keep your fog lights as well?:sneaky:

i have the vrsf kit on my 1g and still have my fogs. the cutting through the rad support can be a pita if you dont have the rite tools

Can somebody PM me link on how to install the PR FMIC kit on my 1g please!!

Here is a 1g PR install:
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-turbo-system-intercooler/385141-pr-fmic-install-battery-relocate.html

and a 1g VRSF install:
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-turbo-system-intercooler/386137-1g-vrsf-fmic-install.html

Notice a few differences, like how the VRSF core is bolted on while the PR core is held on with bailing wire (seriously). Also notice the route the piping takes (VRSF is true "short route").

Hope this helps!

I was debating this as well since im looking into gettin a FMIC. I like the fact that VRSF allows the option for different BOV's and the 3" GM MAF. Can this be done with the PR kit? For example i wanted to get an hks ssqv3 and the PR kit, would i have to get an adapter of some sort to have it mounted on properly?

Our kit isn't held on with "bailing wire" there are bungs on the bottom of the core for it to be mounted with brackets to the chassis of the car.

Currently the kits are designed to work with either 1g or greddy style bov's you can find the kits here on our website:

1g kit:
1G FMIC Kit

2g kit:
2G FMIC Kit

and as always we have dozens of kits in stock ready to ship.
