Used hx35 how much shaft play is ok?

Well picked up a used hx35, seller said it had about 20k miles on it, it has some good shaft play side to side. Front to back zero shaft play. The seller said it had been sitting for a few months, so i ran some oil through it and shaft play isnt that bad but still makes me uncomfortable. Is it ok to run? Should i rebuild it? Please give me advice from people running holsets.

My HX40 has zero shaft play, none nada zip... it also has only like 400 miles on it though. with a JB turbo pretty much any shaft play is unacceptable. i'd send it off to Justin for a rebuild better safe then sorry.

Hes a mod on this forum, you would have to ship it to him and ask him the prices. I don't think they are over 200 for a rebuild, although i haven't needed mine rebuilt yet so i wouldn't really know. I bought my HX40 from him. JusMX141

I'm starting to see some hooking on the compressor inducer tips. If it's caught early enough and no material is removed, you can still run it after it's rebuilt....otherwise you'll need a new compressor at the very least.

Do NOT run that turbo in it's current condition.

Used Holsets almost always need rebuilding from what ive read, $250 is a really good deal for a used core in need of a rebuild. who knows man you could be out the door on this bad boy less then 500 bucks.
