upper window moldings

Quick Question about this upper window trim and how it sits: Is it supposed to sit 1-2cm away from touching the paint? Because mines does not fit flush. Almost like someone tried to try them off the car...
 
OK, looks like it has been a while since anyone has used this thread. I am trying to remove, plastic dip and re-install these molding. Dows anyone have a link to a video or something that shows how to carefully remove these moldings?

I would leave them on the car. Mask off the areas around the car. Cut the loose rubber off/blend it, rough up everything that remains, and spray. I have black spray dip ready to go. Just need to stop procrastinating.

It's just some screws. They come off easy
