Is it a pretty simple procedure to install them both top and bottom? It doesn't look like it would be easy for the top strip?

looks like you have a 1g so this might not apply...

When my top trim was peeling and showing the metal beneath it I just sanded it slightly, put on a coat of adhesion promoter and painted it w/ gloss black paint. All were just duplicolor products from autozone. Still looks great to this day and its been almost a year. Just a thought...

thats what i did with mine. sanded, then painted with gloss black! looks bran new! MAKE SURE YOU TAPE OFF EVERYTHING FIRST! the overspray is a bi***!

Yah, I used old tarp to cover up the whole car and and cut slits to in exact shape of the window trim,,YOu will not believe how much better your car looks when done though :thumb:

I painted mine when I painted my car. Do you have any pics of how bad it is? I wouldn't sand/paint if it were just that trim. I would buy it off of machv if possible. I think it would save you a headache.

I only repainted mine because I was painting the rest of the car. Here are some pictures if your interested:

Not sure about the 1gs guys but mine had some shiney metal underneath. I found it VERY helpful to pull off the old rubber or at least make it a uniform "strip" so when you paint it it looks flat and even.

If you have a old tarp and some tape it is very easy to do. Took me and a friend around 1 and a half hours to do both upper window trim AND my peeling sideview mirrors. Just trying to save someone from paying the 60-70+ it will cost from machv. Hell, maybe the 1gs are a little harder anyway because the window trim strip seems narrower.
