I found that the transaxle oil cooler seems to have been removed, and last I checked this is a needed thing. I have the cooler itself, but none of the hardware, or knowlege of exactly where the hoses hook up on the tranny. How horrible is it that I have driven the car over 100 miles without a cooler? :banghead:

Auto or Manual? If its a 90 manual, its just going to be an actual oil cooler...its better to have it, but not as important as an auto would be...Still not terrible, depending on how hard you've honestly driven it. If its beed raped, get one on there asap...if not...get one on there asap...either way, it sounds like you are ok for the moment...just dont drive much or hard with an auto trans without one.

It is a manual, it's been driven as my daily driver for the past week, it's been driven pretty hard at times, like getting on the highway, and destroying nearly every honda with a fart can I encounter in my 10 mile commute :sneaky:. So where does this thing hook up at stock? I'd imagine I could get lines and hook it from the OFH, but where do I return it to? The turbo return doesn't look too friendly, and I wouldn't think that would be the best place to put a high flowing return. Could this not being hooked up cause high oil pressure? thanks for your help!

Its been a while since I've turned a wrench on a 1g, but I'm 99% sure there was no trans cooler. On a 90, they were the year of the proper air cooler for the oil cooler....lines ran off of the OFH to the cooler and returned to the OFH..

Also, from the sound of it, this is also your first DSM...possibly first boosted car. Read around, a TON...perform the maintenance on the car that it needs...not what you were told it needs. The 90 is an oddball due to wiring, the air cooler, and multiple other small tidbits, but it was my first GSX and I still have that soft spot for them.

Alright, so it would look a bit like this?

This is my first dsm, prior to this I had a 92 legacy gt turbo. I learned my lessons on maintenance with that car. I'm trying so hard not to ruin a great car, but I'm quickly finding that the previous owner really beat this thing to hell, tossed a new head on it and sold it to the first sucker that saw the "turbo, all wheel drive" written on the window. Me :D

I've run without oil coolers for a LONG time on my cars....mainly, because I'd acquire N/T blocks and build them...But yes, that is how they would be hooked up :)

Stop right there! Theres no street racing allowed on this site. Id suggest you read some of the site rules my friend.

But yes the pic above is a good idea of what you could make yours to be!

Sorry, I guess I missed that rule, I'll have to read them again.
