Turning engine counterclockwise.

I accidentally turned the engine counterclockwise today not sure but maybe a half to full turn tops.Did I screw something up bad.There is caution in my haynes manual about turning the engine counterclockwise.I thought had car in fifth but might have been in
reverse.Was trying to take the balancer pulley off. I still had the timing and all belts on the car if that helps.Don't tell me turning the engine counterclockwise maybe one turn will bend the valves or something stupid.I really hope not.

You will be fine. I have done that by mistake on other imports that I have owned. I never had an issue with it. One time I did a full valve adjustment, spinning the wrong direction

I wouldn't worry about that too much. I've done it on purpose many times to set the timing for the timing belt. I am not even sure why it is such a bad thing, maybe they are worried that it will unbolt the crank sprocket or oil pump sprocket? Not sure...but you still should be ok =)

wow if its bad, then i must've screwed my engine up.. i turned my motor counterclockwise dozens of times - either for timing belt or just to keep the engine rotating when not in use for a couple of weeks.

The timing belt could skip a few teeth if turned the wrong way, cause of the the way its tensioned, but its usually okay.

i usually turn it counterclockwise if the timing belt is not on or if i'm putting it on and passed the mark.

When Installed the new crankpulley/dampener, I used a 1/2 drive rachet and extention to hold the crank in place while I torqued the 4 bolts that hold the pulley on.

yeah the tensioner is placed for clockwise rotation, with counterclockwise rotation the tensioner isnt doing its job, so it could easily skip teeth, but usually its not a problem. I think you would need to rotate it many many times before it was an issue.
