[RESOLVED] UGENT: Crankshaft Turned Counterclockwise

Hey there,
I have turned my engine counterclockwise by the crank while I was doing a timing job... I turned it backwards about 20 rotations of cam gears worth with the belt ON to line up timing marks... did not skip any teeth through...
Damage???!
Help please don't want to start like this

You are fine. Just time it the correct way snd ride out

Dont turn it that way again. As long as you can turn it 6 times clock wise. TDC to TDC and all marks are right on, its good enough to run. Locate TDC again and spin it 6 times, when you do that, and it lines up you can start it. Dont worry you should be good but dont get in the habbit.

How many of us turned the crank the opposite direction like this and survived?

Some installs recommend a light counter rotation to set tensioners then do the rotation to check mark alignments.

As long as the belt was attached you should be ok. Now if the belt was off, that's another story...

It honestly doesn't matter. I've turned the motors over both ways before for years...no ill effects.

A few times won't hurt but I would make sure to not keep doing it.
