knocking when turning engine off

my car sat for a couple months with occasional starts, and i had put a 255 wallbro in and got some bad ticking but fixed that ,as the o-ring and plastic nipple were not tight enough causing low fuel pessure,( i do have a fuel lab FPR on the way ).....so i fixed that and the engine sounded fine,....then i bought an apexi-II safc and the guy that installed it totally fubard the wiring, but got it right the second time, so now that works fine,...........but after all this now the engine is getting vibrating/whinning noises witch i think it just needs the timing to be reset, i hope, ........sounds fine while idling,till i rev it over 2500.

but my main concern is when i shut the engine off it gives me a couple knocks , but there is no knocking while the engine is running....... maybe wrist pins? the wierd thing is the car hasnt even been driven after i fixed the fuel pump and did the SAFC,, just some idling ...and now these noises show up out of no ware.........i did drive it however after these noises showed up to get it looked at and it seemed to still run fine......im done driving it now till i figure out what is causing this knock at shut down......id would check the timing and do a compression test but i dont have the tools to do it so im waiting on someone else when they have the time to come over and help me out.....till then im just sitting here going nuts hoping i dont need a rebuild...... any help or ideas would be great...thanx

so i went to change the oil in it today, just to see if i had any shavings in the oil..............................it looked okay but kinda sparkly but nothing big and i didnt see any obviouse shavings............TILL I CUT OPEN THE FILTER UP AND THERE IS SHAVINGS EVERYWERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


WHAT I DONT UNDERSTAND IS THERE WAS NO KNOCKING WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING AND PULLED FINE LAST TIME I DROVE IT........ DID I MAYBE CATCH IT IN TIME TO NOT HAVE DONE ANY DAMAGE TO THE CRANK? IM HOPING I CAN JUST TARE THE ENGINE APART AND REPLACE THE BEARINGS AND PUT IT BACK TOGETHER........PLEASE LET ME KNOW ...........

ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE VERY APPRIECIATED...THANX

for anyone viewing this with the same problem, it ended up being the front balance shaft bearing broke apart wich was causing the whining around 3k, metal in my oil and the knocking when turning car off.
