I am debating on switching turbos for the next season. I am currently on a 7 blade holset. I am looking for something that will achieve 600whp on e85. I cant see me wanting more than 700. However I dont want to be maxing the turbo out to achieve 600. I am hoping someone with experience with a few models can provide spool characteristics and some imput.

I'm looking at the pte 6262 or 6466. I am also considering xona rotor 7164s or 7864s.

If there is something else I should look into just let me know. Also, if you need more info or background just let me know.
 
I talked with Robert at FP about this same question. He said the 71-64s is a good choice and I got one with the 0.64 hotside for better spool. My VERY preliminary experience is that is feels exactly like my 61-56 did which is nice because that hit 30psi at roughly 4400rpms. Obviously it's very expensive but it will do the job. I'm also certain one of hx40 variants could do the job too.

I considered going with a holset hx40. However, I my hx35 is not that efficient. It hits 35 psi by 4500 but falls down to 28 around 5800 and keeps falling up to 8k. Im not sure if other hx40 will do the same thing. The same xona you have was recommended by FP. Curious how high you rev the car to and does it fall off at higher rpm? What made you choose the 7164s over the 7864s?

I haven't pushed the car at all as I'm finishing other projects. I chose the 71-64 because I wanted an easy 600 that won't be pushing the turbo to the ragged edge like my old 61-56 would have been. I'm effectively done with my build power-wise and will likely never go up in power, therefore, there was no reason for the bigger 78-64.

What happened to that old 61-56 setup, seems like it's something that would make a potential buyer very very happy.. :cool:
