so i payed 40 bucks for tunerstein and cable. got it loaded on my toshiba win7 after 2 long days of a missing dll error.(the site dosnt tell you that your snj2home file changes name when loaded to a 64bit os.)and you will need to search
- snj2homewow64-

that was just the begining though! i dont have a serial port so i went and bought a serial to usb adapter and drivers. pluged in and...no response from ecu. i dont give up that easy so i checked port assingment and settings over and over nothing. so i decided that because there are no instructions for win 7 install it must not be compatable.

i went to the pawn shop and bought an old emachine laptop with vista.went through it all again no response from ecu. i looked up the proper way the diode an resister goes in the cable all is good, it must be my usb to serial port adapter.

back to the pawn shops. found a dell with windows xp and a serial port! i now have 3 laptops. same thing on the dell. no ecu

should it be this difficult? if anyone has ben down this road allready and can help i would really appreciate it.

Dsm link, or your going to be messing around with a box of crayons. Flash your ecu if you still can.

i bought the program from dsm cables with an oem fit plug at the datta link checked the pin out, its good. downloaded another copy on line, same thing
(no responce from ecu 7199) getting ecmlink with taxes want this to work though. can i download dsm link somewhere?

Get a null modem adapter for the db9 and see if that fixes the problem. Most of the ALDL cables are for the palm and the palm has pins 2 and 3 switched around from what a pc uses. Also what usb adapter did you use? I have the keyspan and it works good. Ive got two others i have yet to try so far

got the null modem adapter and it works! im realy stoked i just got me eprom burner today i'm using tuner pro. need to find a bin file for 90 tsi fwd stick.

thanks for the help.

Its better to use the Ostrich IMHO. Its easier as when u mod the eeprom and burn it you wont know if it works till you put it in the ecu and if doesnt you gotta take it back out. Use E931 bin for ## car. Its the Federal AWD bin from the 1GB. It has extra timing and fuel bins. You can get it off the tunerpro website.

E931 is what you'll find in the 91 and 92 AWD ECUs (not just 1Gb). It's the version we reverse engineered/disassembled in the Yahoo DSM-ECU group so you'll find the bin, various XDF's and the code listing in the files section of that group.

My bad on what year its from. The only reason why i didnt link to the yahoo gropu was i dont know if he has a yahoo email and the bin and xdf on tunerpro works great. Ive used the yahoo and tuner group bins and xdf witg zero problems other than my own mistakes at editing the. Code
