Tubular header power vs. ported 2G?

Im not talking durability, I mean would a cheap ebay header put out more power than say a ported 2G? Ive been told they do by a lot of people that they do, but never posted it on here. I just want to know, outta the box which one will crank out more.

That all depends on the size of the piping for the runners, the design of the collector, etc. I've never seen an ebay manifold in person, so I can't answer that question. I can say that ported stock 2g manifolds have gone fast as hell. (10's?)

What kind of turbo setup are you running? Which one will make more power you ask, it changes by the design of the manifold; as thekellbeast said. Some manifolds have excellent flow characteristics and others are not so good. If you perhaps give an example of which exact manifold you are talking about (ebay) it would be easier to give some insight. Also, it depends who is porting the stock manifold; a bad port job can effectively hurt the performance.

Im running a ported E3 16G, I just heard really any tubular would flow better, (thats why I said ebay for an example), I have a ported 2G with an O2 dump and a 2.5 donwpipe to 3 inch catback with no cat, but a cut-out. I was just curious because I wanted to try one if it was worth it.

Apparently, it seems that MOST of the ebay tubular's crack. Seems that poor weld quality has a lot to do with it. I would say that depending on the type of tubular (Short ram or equal runner length), you would gain a few rpms on your spool time and slighty extend the available power band. If you do want to go with an ebay manifold, I would get the welds checked up by a knowledgable exhaust shop/welder and have anything that is necessary re-welded. BTW, Punishment Racing offers a "budget" t3 manifold that comes with a lifetime warranty. Only downside is that they are only offering them in t3 as of now. I'm sure you could get an adaptor flange for it to work with your E316g though.

If you're going that route, you could always take that manifold to a shop and have them chop off the t3 flange and weld on a mitsu one. Hell, tons of shops sell 7cm mitsu flanges in their DIY sections.

Thanks guys. I did see the punishment header also. I might just stick with my ported 2G, with my XACT flywheel the E3 already spools up like a damn supercharger. I was gonna go tubular if it would yield like a 10HP gain, but for at least $300 for a GOOD one, I dont think its worth it. Im guessing on a high HP setup (I call high over 500HP) it would be ideal. Thanks again.
