OK, i did a search on teh website about this product and didnt get very much from it. I have a 97 GSX and i found the ssautochrome tubular header on ebay... now would i be better off just getting the slowboyracing manifold? or should i try this tubular header?? i havent heard anything bad about them but its $150 on ebay(theres gotta be a catch)...

There have been reports of cheap welding on the flanges, so when you bolt it to your head, its not level. This can be easily fixed by having the surface leveled and machined however. Other than that, ebay headers aren't horrible, just make sure they come with some kind of warrenty for cracking.

IMO, I would get the SBR manifold or port out yours. There are people running excellent 1/4 times with the stock 2g manifold, so thats good enough for me to run it. Most of the spool in a turbo is due to heat expansion, and a stock cast manifold holds in more heat than the tubular manifold. You can heat wrap the tubular headers, but that leaves it more prone to cracking. I'd put money elsewhere until it becomes the weakest part of your motor, which shouldn't be for a LONG while.

well, i have a leak in my manifold around the seal says my mechanic... and it needs to be replaced immediately b/c it makes a real loud high pitch noise when i accelerate.

Is there a crack in the manifold or is it just the gasket? You can get a new gasket for like 15 bucks and just put that on. If there is a crack, it can either be welded shut or replaced.

well if i have to replace it do you think it would be necessary to buy the SBR Manifold with my stock car or should i just get the evo?

Well, there is a 2g manifold in the classifieds right now for $50, but if you need to replace it, I'd go with a cast one...either 2g, or SBR. If I'm not mistaken, the EVO and SBR are about the same in price, and the SBR one has bigger runners.

Here it is Folks! The new SBR cast manifold. This manifold has the same external dimensions as the evo, but inside is where we really shine. The runners are larger, the collector is bigger, and it just plain flows more. We cast these with a slightly thicker flange as well to space out for you guys running our turbos with the larger compressor covers.
All manifolds come with 7cm gasket matched to the collector of the manifold.

Want it ported?
Add: $50.00

yea, the SBR manifold has larger runners than the EVO. You can have them port it out even more, as was poster earlier. I dont' know about the heat shield fitting the SBR manifold, maybe someone who has one can chime in, but I know to get it to fit around the EVO housing, you need to bend it a bit...not a big deal.

Question- is the Turbine a bigger restriction than the manifold? If the answer is no- then you might want to look at that header.

if the answer is yes- why not spend your money where it will do the most good?

ie- if you run a T25 and toss on a tubular manifold, will you make 50HP?
if you were to toss on a 2nd gen manifold but upgrade the turbo to a 14B would you make 50HP?

Spend money smart, and only once- your large tube headers may show flow- but do they drop velocity? Do they actually help you spool or create more top end power? Turbos' aren't 5.0L mustangs- you don't need worry about manifold flow until you are running a considerably better turbine than T25 or 6cm2 :)
