Okay, I have read and researched this past week trying to find out for sure if it is my transfer case that is leaking steadily. I collected about a quart of fluid, it is transparent tan/gold and it smells rotten, tranny fluid, transfer case fluid? I have an appointment with mitsubishi this week to have it looked at for the possible recal service but i don't wanna drive it without any oil in the transfer case. I have another question, is the oil in the tranny and the transfer case the same, i bought synthetic blend 75w-90, I just wanny be safe driving my car to the dealer and go from there.

Where did you collect the fluid from? The only place it would leak from the transfer case is at the drive shaft seal unless you have a crack in the housing.

You may have a bad gasket on your T-Case. I wouldn't drive it anywhere. Call a flatbed or do the work at home.

That could be from either right there. You can check the fluid level in the transfer case through that bolt on the front side of it. And there is a similar bolt on the front side of your transmission where you can check the fluid level of the transmission.

Check them both and fill them with the fluid that your manuel recomends if you have to drive the car.
