Ok well I put in a new trans in my car and before I put it in I checked all the gears manually from the shift linkage to make sure they all went in, I installed the trans and when I went to put it into reverse it went into 4th.. I've checked the cables, brackets, adjustments and it isn't that. I took it all off and went to change the gears manually once again and now it won't go into 5th or reverse at all, just acts like something is blocking it but there is nothing obstructing movement at all..

Loosen the reverse shift cable from the bracket on the transmission. Move the "thing" its connected to forwards and backwards. You are supposed to hear 3 clicks. 1-2 "1 click" 3-4 "1 click" 5-R "1 click". If you cant hear 3 clicks the 5-R line isnt hooking up

Got it fixed, the 5th/R shift fork was stuck and the 36mm bolt was loose, torqued the bolt and lubed everything with tranny fluid and put fresh fluid in and I'm good.
