TPS/IPS adjustment questions

when adjusting the IPS for the TPS on a 2G TB, do you leave everything on the battery connected? or do you just have the ignition switch on, or both? would it matter if the battery wasn't connected?

Also saw where someone proped the TB open with a paper folded 4 times if you didnt have a feeler guage, has anyone else done this or should I just buy a feeler guage

Don't you have link? That would make it so much easer.
You need to have the battery connected and a multimeter so you can see the voltages while you adjust the TPS make sure that your throttle body is completely close while you do this you can adjust that by the 2 bolts behind the IM. The voltage on the TPS should be 0.63v while closed and all the way up to 4.80+ when in WOT.

I know alot of stuffs easier with the link that I can't get right now, i have a nice multimeter though, was also confused on what was meant by peircing wires to test the TPS?

I'm actually just trying to find out if my TPS / IPS needs to be adjusted, not sure where its at.
