I am new to having an account on the forums, but i am making a top mount manifold for my 2g 7 bolt and i'm having clearance issues with one of the runners hitting this little square piece sticking out of the block. I'm wanting to cut it off, but i don't know if I'll have issues if I cut it off, or if it relates to an oil journal for the balance shaft. Any input would help, because i don't want to ruin my block if i decide to cut it. thx

Here is the inside of at 7-bolt block at that point, with no indentation where that casting sticks out (hard to get a camera in there, sorry)
You shouldn't have a problem grinding it down flush with the balance shaft tunnel, and I believe there are a few top mounts that require some grinding here as well.
