1G Timing cover help

I was told this isn't important. But I don't think that's right at all since it came with gaskets. Can some one please help me.

Is there a question? That cover is jacked, looks like ac pulley failed.

Sorry. There is. Since there's a hole in this because previous owner never put the bolt on the pulley to hold it to the assembly. Do I need a new one? I was told it doesn't matter. -_-

Is that a 6 bolt or 7 bolt cover?

"NEED" no. highly recommended that you have one, yes. It keeps things such as rocks, dirt, water etc. from getting to your timing belt components. You can risk it by not running one or just cough up a few bucks for one from a junk yard or new. Your choice.

^^^I agree but if it's a 6 bolt cover it wont cost you too much to get a brand new one pm'ed you a helpful link.

6 bolt. And that's what I thought jakk220. I was told I didn't need it. I honestly think that person is an idiot. And thanks for the confirmation every one. Now I just need to get money to buy the parts.

Ive run covers that look worse. What you decide is up to you. If you ask me what I would do personally I would buy another and likely a new one.

If you do decide to use that one make sure you clean it up first. All it takes is one little piece of plastic to get in between your timing belt and one of the gears or pulleys and boom goes the dynamite.

Even if that's true. I'm gonna 4eplace the belt should it be strected, hydraulic tensioner, and any thing else that might contribute to my car jumping one tooth at a time during normal cruising conditions. Never jumped under boost or when off boost. Is that odd?

I would recommend replacing the dust seals on that timing cover as well. They get hard and crack as they age.
