So I took it apart and bought a new belt. The tensioner pulley is touching and rubbing the waterpump housing. Also the T belt is cutting into the oil pump. It is cutting the thin wierd nut thing that is kinda behind the oil pump sprocket. Does the tensioner pully need to be spaced out? My timing belt was like a 1/16 of an inch twards the engine off the cam gears. Plus it was cut and ruff from cutting into the oil pump. Does the T belt tensioner pulley need a perfect tension to have the belt stay centered. I read the book. I have a manual.

Timing belts are expensive and I need to get this fixed this time.

Thanks for your help in advance.

can we get some pic's ? did you adjust the tension like the vfaq or book told you? you don't just put it on and let it rip :p . Did you replace the balance shaft belt if you have one? If so did you put the plate in between the 2 belts back on correctly this could be cutting your t belt. That is all a shot in the dark with no pic's.

Some of the pic show where the t belt was on the pulleys.

you probably put the pulley on backwards. if its the one im thinking of its slightly offset. better pics would help

How can you put it on backwards. Does the lip not go on the side of the motor? The pulley has a lip on one side, the idler pulley has no lip on it. A mechanic did that last two changes and that is how he had it on. This was on a totally different motor. The belt wore a little on the inside as well.

The new pulley on the left that was used on the motor a couple hours ago. On the right the old pulley flipped over, that was on the old motor.

Well I spaced out the pulley from the arm thing with a lock washer. It worked then the pulley came loose. So the belt cut into the cover this time. So I did everything over again and lock tighted the pulley. Tightened everything and I think it is fixed. Cross fingers. :| So I hope it holds, it seems to be ok. Tensioned and centerd.
