Hey all. Throwing up a post in here in hopes of getting some help resolving my problem.
A few times now going back even a couple years, my Tial MVR / 44mm Wastegate gets stuck cracked open right at the fire ring. Probably 2-3mm. This is the 4th time it's done it.
When it happens I don't get all of my boost obviously and there's an exhaust leak.
INFO / troubleshooting
- Hooked up 4 port configuration ( quadruple verified its connected right)
- Been through 3 different 4 ports BCS
- Replaced diaphragm due to it being torn
- Removed all boost reference lines while running to rule out any vacuum or controller related issues
In order to " fix" it I have to pull the wastegate apart and loosen The diaphragm and then reclamp it back on the valve stem.
The procedure for me doing that is I'll put the valve in, then the fire ring, and then diaphragm on top. Set it upright so the fire ring is on a flat surface (like a 2x4) and press the diaphragm down and tighten the 4 set screws down that hold the diaphragm to the valve shaft. Use red loctite.
I've read that the valve can get wear on the shaft and cause it to bind up inside the wastegate. So I'll check that next.
