1G Thermo housings keep breaking

This is the 2nd housing on this motor that has cracked like this. I need dsm guru help! Im down to my last spare!

I can definitely check housing for flat. Im wondering if doing rtv without a gasket is part of the issue. Cant imagine the gasket is thick enough to help though.

There was a guy doing cnc lowers... i cant remember who but i would definitely prefer that over these 25 yr old cast pieces

Pull the studs and block both surfaces flat. If they are both perfectly flat you shouldnt have any problems with cracking an ear with or without rtv. It doesnt take long, especially on alumium. 120 grit should be good.
