Having a blow off valve will make the transient boost response better than not havin one. How? It releases the pressure in the pipes which allows the turbo to keep spinning at high rpm's during shifts. Obviously you don't need a blow off valve if you nlts all the time since if you did have one it wouldn't be opening. Guess what. Shep nlts's all the time.

''NTLS's'' means?

No race for us... I guess yesterday was too good to be true. We were making pulls all day turning up the boost each time and getting her as perfect as can be trying to get her ready for Saturday and right after a pull at 28psi the timing beld some how skipped a bunch of teeth and bent all of the intake valves. There is about 15-20 degrees of free play on the intake cam. Im very close to selling the car, thats how pissed off I was and still am 6 hours later. More diag later to come to see why it happened. My first thought was a broken timing belt tensioner, but we'll see.

Don't give up. You have come to far not to run it. And I don't want to see my favorite dsm get parted or sold to somebody that will not take care of it.

If I do sell the car it will be to someone who will take car of it and not part it out. They have to have the wanting and the ability to treat the car the way that it should be treated. Im still fairly upset over it still as Im sure I will be for a while. I do have extra parts that may work just fine, but well see.

If you do sell the car tell them over there to call chris back with a price $$$... I actually just spoke to them about a full sheet metal dash and interior for my car and my honda.. The cars got great work and great numbers.. Keep up the good work... It'll pay off real soon... They seem like real good people and they'll figure it out quick enough for ya... Good Luck:thumb:

These things make me laugh....Not the timing belt fail...but after all the time and effort put into the car, something monor happens, and the owner decides to throw it away. #### fix the damn head and enjoy the car.

It was a collection of many many many little things and some more big things that all added up. But I had the weekend to cool off and Im not selling the car. Its too much like a child of mine. The head is at the machine shop right now and we should be up and running again by Wed. or Thurs.

Simply put if you don't have the attitude to handle such things such as breakages then you won't make it out there. I don't like ppl who give up.

So what happened what caused it?

Glad to hear your keeping it.

To reply to MidShipCivic and bastarddsm, you both have no idea of the stressers that go into a build like this so to make snide remarks like that shows how much class you do not have, and for that I am sorry. But the problem was caused by the timing belt tensioner breaking. The car should be up and running again by the middle of this week with my old Polk head. The car was dropping torque like a bad habbit at 6000-6200rpm and all the possible reasons for that were checked and this is the only thing that it may be. So hopefully this weekend we can finally go racing.

Ya, this is the first one that we have seen go out so we have had no reason to suspect one of failing. The ones that we have seen go out are on H22's, but for the most part no DSM's.

I was worried about that with mine so Im going to give the BLE solid tensioner a try. If my pistons and rods ever show up :sneaky:

Jeff (Blue civic) has been talking about your car quite a bit lately. Nothing but praise!

sorry about your luck man. im just glad your fixing it and not selling it. as 1992awdlaser said, you are the DSMer that i watch.:thumb:

Well hopefully I can do everybody proud. I got another project that Im working on too, so my attention is kind of 50/50 with the Talon so that helps a little bit.

Sorry for the luck:| Wish you would have had it at the battle!!! I was supprised how many DSMs were out there!! English was out there in full force and taking names!!! The white evo ran a 8.99!!! :thumb:it was the first time I have ever seen that car run without any issues!!! :thumb:
I cant wait to hear about what your car can do!!! I hope to see it at woodburn next year! Good luck finishing the build..... again.....

Hey, Alex, I just read about the break. Sorry to hear, but I'm glad you're keeping the car and working with it. (I just bought a '91 GSX with half the chassis miles that I'm switching over to.)

So what is this other project you're working on now that you've piqued our interest?

You have no idea who I am, so what are you talking about? I have 4 cars to your one build
3 of which are more than 4 cylinder engines with large budgets, so don't even go there. I've had more than 4 consecutive failures with the 4g63.

1 mishap and you want to get mad and give up and that's class? It just isn't.
That's the wrong type of spirit to have in this game.

midship, what you said was an insult. He had a right to reply. Let that be the end of the argument in this thread or I will have to get a Mod involved. If you want to keep going then take it to PM's.

We had one fail also this year. I'm still not sure why it did?

I'm so glad to hear you will be up and running soon!!!

How much longer is Renegade open?

Renegade closed a couple of weeks ago, were going to try and make the race in Boise this weekend. I think thats one of the last tracks in the NW still open and that one is about to close as well.
