Well the closest 1/4 mile track to me opened up for the season yesterday, Ive been waiting for ever to see what I could run now with my 20g. Got my car all ready or so I thought checked all the fluids...tightened up all the IC piping, I was already to go rip down the track or so I thought....I get there about and hour drive from where I live. Track was Heartland Park Topeka incase you were wondering....Then shortly after I get tech'd it starts sprinkling I was like ahhhhh NOOOOOO this goes on for 15-20 mins then stopped.
They decided to wait it out and about an hour later the track had dried and was ready to go!

I get in line pull up to the tree get the rpms about 3500 waiting for the green...it goes green...let up on the clutch hitting the gas BOG! dang it oh well vrooooom...psh vroooooom psh (glance at my boost gauge 10!!! WTF)....vrooooooooooooooooom pppssshh 15.2..... :notgood: I hit about 13 psi by the top of 3rd. Ever since I put this front mount on nothing but trouble I swear. I checked for boost leaks the prior day so I ruled that out. Everything seemed fine under the hood so I went up for my next run bogged again! 15.1 getting frustrated I turned my MBC up and go up to my next run.
This time I dumped it at 5000 got the wheels to spin finally. I check my boost gauge its jumping around kinda funny, my change to the mbc didnt affect my boost.... 14.72 this time.

I pull down to the pit area, pop my hood I decided to just take out my mbc out, I reach down to my wastegate to pull the hose and thats when I see that the hose to my wastegate was being pinched!! by my intake hose. I thought about this for a while, wouldnt that just make my boost just keep rising? I bypass my mbc and just run a straight hose. Pull up to the tree blah blah 14.8 only boosting at 10 and rising to 13 by the top of third. So same results as before.

Dissapointed I head home :( I ran a 14.6 last year with my t-25 at 18 psi dropping to 15 after 5000 and my stock smic. I guess ill adjust my wastegate cause I think I might just have it set to low and its blowing open to soon. Before with my smic and the 20g I could hit 18 psi by the top of 3rd. Probably not smart with my stock injectors :coy: . Heres my time slips

Great read:thumb:

It's too bad about your problems (been there done that) but that's racing...

Keep up the good work!

Greg

I like it man. Some days everything works out, somedays you have trouble. Thats racing. You'll get it fixed...comeback and tear it up.

Ya considering I was at a much lower boost level especially for this turbo I didnt do to bad I suppose. There was a decent head wind to but ya the next one is in 2 weeks so hopefully all will be sorted out LOL . I need to work on my launching, I kinda regret putting in the fidanza flywheel.

Well I feel like an idiot, when I got this turbo I adjusted the wastegate to be open just a little bit, cause well I dont have injectors yet and that made it spool really slow I guess. Me thinking well I read the 20g has lag so this must be it, cause it would take a long time to spool. Well today when I adjusted it I set it so it was being pulled closed, got in took it for a run damn thing spooled faster than my t25 I think...I was like wow awesome, it was spooling to about 12. I put my mbc back on did some adjustments, got it set to 16 and damn does she feel like shes running good, no traction in first again and half way through second...dunno if thats good or bad haha, guess I'll find out in a week and a half.

Now that I think about it I really dont know what I was thinking, setting my wastegate like that, partially open. I wonder if I did and damage to the turbo making it work that hard to spool? Cause im sure it wasn't good for it.

You didn't do any damage... A turbo doesn't care if teh wastegate is open or not...it has to work less when it is open, as that allows exhaust to bypass the turbine...

After I read your first post I was thinking that it might be the fllapper not being all the way closed... Good read, glad its fixed, and happy racing.

another suggestion...more pertaining to your runs. you got to cut down those 60' times, it's killing you. tsi....i was going to assume awd, but then you said wheel spin..so fwd tsi? either way...gotta cut those times down

Ya its FWD :( I'm still getting use to the spec stage 2 clutch and fidanza flywheel. I'm having a hard time getting the clutch to slip. This clutch isn't anything like the stock one it's more of a on off type of deal.

They are having some drag competetion soon so hopefully the track will be much stickier after that LOL

Tsi= Fwd
Tsi Awd = Awd :)

You might be able to run 12s on a good tune and 20psi or so but it's going to be hard without traction...Better luck next time.
