You can't compare these gears to PPG. PPG is like a work of art. This I would call some ghettofied back yard gears! haha

It basically looks like they cut down the syncro ring on the gear to fit their faceplate (dogs). They also have their own hub and sliders that they make.

Now on the hub/slider I don't like the tolerances because you can cant (tilt) the slider on the hub. If that makes sense.

I'll let you know what I think after the first pass :)

I need to get my butt in gear and get this block to the machine shop. I said screw it and I'll reuse the old pistons. I'm just going to have the new block machined to fit them.

I know these aren't on the same playing field as PPG/PAR etc. I just haven't seen a set of Liberty's in person, so didn't know if they looked ok.

As far as the clearance, how much can you tilt the slider? The stock ones have a bit of play too with the keys removed. Do you think it's enough to chatter or get hung up?

If I were to send in more I would buy new gears and send those. They also offer metal enhancements for the gears.

Awesome build thread!

Looks like it has come a LONG way since you started.

Question about your staging brake, correct me if I'm wrong, looks like you have it plumbed like so; one line going to the distribution block and one going to the master cylinder. I was planning on running mine like this as well. Doing it this way, is the staging brake doing okay holding the car back at the line only holding one caliper on each side on the front and back? Of course this is along with the pressure of the foot brake aswell.

My assumption is that with the LSD the brake would hold one side and do to the LSD the other side would hold as well. CORRECT?

Thank you for any insite. And again, the car has come a long way and congrats on 9's!

Thanks!

The way the staging brake is it locks the front right and left rear tire. With holding the car back it is a 5 speed car. It's not like it's on a converter trying to push past the brakes. The load on the brakes is determined by how much I load it up on the clutch. I usually only preload the drivetrain slightly.

Also if you are trying to load the car completely on the staging brake you are going to destroy the clutch before you push through the brakes. Trust me I know..

Thanks for the info. I have an auto, so I'm trying to get the stall up without doing a burnout at the line like the last time I went to the track. That was with new rotors on the front and Hawk HPS pads, fronts held fine, the rears were with whatever pads that were on the car when I bought it. I have since added porterfield pads, lines and new rotors. I deleted the Ebrake, and plan on running the staging brake like yours is setup since that is the easiest way to run the lines.

Respect!! this is incredible.

let me know how the transmission works out cause im definately interested in that gearset!!!

Sweet build! I love seeing where a car starts and where a car is today. Always a fun journey to watch!

Thank you! This build thread is crap compared to what I had on DSMPurity.com. The owner sold the site and took it down with out informing anyone.

I pulled what I posted here from Dsmtalk and that was just a glimps of what I have done.

I post it on here and Talk now so I try to keep both up to date.

My dash is getting there. I just need to pick up an oil pressure gauge and a coolant temp gauge. Also all of the parts that Shane(dsmtalk) has been making have turned out perfect!

I started painting the engine bay and ran into a problem with the primer being a little too thick. I have to resand the bay and spray it again. I'll post up pictures of that when I'm done.

I had some free time the other day so I decided to finally hang some pictures and my achievement/goal slips. Also the trophies are from the 3 local races that I attended. 2 wins and a second place.

Thanks for sharing this company, i think i might just might grab a stock tranny and get 2nd-4th done .

They can't do just 2-4 unfortunately. I was hoping for that as well to keep the car a little more street friendly. They have to machine a new slider, so it will not work with the factory synchros. That means if you want 2, you get 1, and 3 gets 4. Oh well, DD dogbox won't be that hard.

On a side note, any updates? My gears are going out this week. Hopefully my hold time isn't as long as yours was. They told me around 3-4 weeks.

Kool i dont kno why i didnt logically think like that . Haha thanx though . And 3-4 weeks is ridiculous!

Finally after almost half a year my gears came in!

VooDoo Dogbox coming soon ;)

Also a friend (Shane) has been working on a neat little project for me. I wanted to put a stock dash and interior back in the car so I can fit some classes around here.

This is going to be my new gauge cluster :). Very happy with out it turned out!

webite n contact for voodoo dogbox ?

As far as "VooDoo" goes I call every transmission that I build a VooDoo transmission. Just a name that stuck because the first one I did had some witch craft going on and it worked like a dream.

I'll get some new pictures up I have done some small things here and there.

Finally got the interior 90% done!

Had some time to respray the bay today. I had some problems up front which I thought Was the part I prepped the best.

Thanks. The only place around here is carquest. I went with a single stage from ppg and just used the OEM paint code.

The single stage that I used required a mix of 4:1:1 4 parts paint, 1 part reducer, 1 part hardener. I use a spray gun.
