Haha i cant believe your sticking with the 5 speed still, was thinking you were going auto soon. Anyways i am glad you'll be making awesome times on the 5 speed.

I almost did.. But I couldn't sell the 5 speed stuff and when I rebuilt the trans myself it shifted good enough for a 9 sec pass so I kept it all.

I wasn't going to do this but I said "F it and started grinding... and welding

Pretty sure if you want something welded you don't want to bring it by my house!

Jesus christ you break a lot of shit. LOL. Why aren't you running the dogbox anymore?

Ha way more than I ever post up!

Well the dogbox story..

I got a re enlistment bonus and dropped almost 7k on a transmission. Tossed it in and headed out to the track. The first couple track times were a blast with it. The last race of I think 2010 I had a shifter cable pop off.

Coming in on the new setup for 2011 I found out it rounded the dogs on 2nd gear. I bit the bullet and paid $900 for a new Second gear / slider. Yes thats $900 for one gear.

Put it in headed out to the track First pass sweet it shifted again... Second pass Spun off the line Banged 2nd and rev rev rev clunk bang bang.. (haha)

I asked for help on what was going wrong and the only answer I received was driver error. Not what I was doing wrong or anything.

Well that was $900 down the drain and with that support I was not about to do it again.

Out of frustration I traded it to Mike Rizz.

I'm actually building my own dogbox right now that will cost way less to build for myself.

Hmm, sound like them dogboxes are pretty fragile.

PM me some info on what your doing with the dogbox. Me and a guy localish to me are kicking around some ideas..

Had a few minutes today to work on the car.

Finally got the bolt on parachute mount on the car!

I'm curious on what dogbox you will be using? Also why would you decide to back with a dog box after the same issues happening twice?

It's just one using oem gears and dog teeth on them. Same thing dogbox racing was offering. Nothing secret or special..

But they are only about $80 a gear to have made. Once you shift with a dogbox you realize that the only other trans you can shift faster is an auto and with a huge turbo any delay in shifting is alot of boost lost.

Nice car man! Where did you get the lexan rear windows? I would love to add them to my new build!

I made my own actually. I had a crank pulley take out the front windshield, so when I replaced that I had pieces left over.

I pulled out my stock ones and clamped some lexan to them. Cut it out and bolted it down.

Damn you guys are making me want to get busy on the car! I haven't touched it in a couple months.. The block needs filled so I guess I can knock that out tomorrow..

Haha, i want to race so bad but have so much stuff going in right now its not funny! I bought another shell that was bare with a 10point cage and chute mount, so it needs alot of work to get back together, moving into a new house as we speek, and getting ready for the new born due in 7 weeks!

There is small progress on some things. You know I'm not like most dsmers. My car has actually paid for most of its self over the years. If I ever get in a pinch she just sits on the trailer until I get the time. I'll eventually get bored and move to something else but not anytime soon!

I have actually been rounding up some interior pieces to reinstall in the car. I want to fit in a class at the 1/8 here so I can clean house and make some money.

I have a stock dash I'm fitting back in the car. Shane from dsmtalk is making me a panel where the stock cluster is to fit all my gauges and tach.

My gears are finally done at liberty so they should show up soon and I can start building the transmission.

Some stuff just not really worth posting!

take some pictures of it. How much total is it to get done? I'm half tempted to get a 3rd and 4th done. I can jam second good but 3rd and 4th blow.

Do you have any metal enhancements done to them? Shotpeeining?

Have you stripped many stock gears?

Finally after almost half a year my gears came in!

VooDoo Dogbox coming soon ;)

Also a friend (Shane) has been working on a neat little project for me. I wanted to put a stock dash and interior back in the car so I can fit some classes around here.

This is going to be my new gauge cluster :). Very happy with out it turned out!

These gears are straight cut or helicoidal cut ? How much does it cost you to make these gear cut by liberty? If I order them will it take half a year to get them them like yours? I am asking a lot of question but I am tired of breaking gears , more precisely the fourth gear.

Thank you

These are stock gears with the liberty face plate modification done to them. They are nothing special.

It was about $800 for my gears to be done. And I have no clue how long they will take on another set. Ill for sure have a spare transmission ready just incase wait is long.

I have never broken any gears. Just toasted syncros. My car barely weighs anything so I'm sure that helps me out some.

Hey chris I just read this whole build and I honestly can't believe how much work you put into your car. That is some serious dedication. I do have a question for you. I just got my sheptrans stg 4 in the mail waiting to be installed. How would you rate it and why?

I have not had good experiences with venders building items for me. Usually my self built items work better.

No offense but there are plenty of reviews on here about his transmissions. It's what his company thrives on and was built around. Some just have a crappy situations happen.

These were modified by liberty's gears.

Have you gotten to make any passes yet with the Liberty setup? I have a set ready to send out, but I still DD the car, and have been doing a lot of research on it.

No I haven't yet. I just started putting the trans together tonight. I've been busy with work / family stuff so the car has been on the back burner.

I'm still making progress on it here and there just not as fast as I use to.

My son has been in the garage with me and most of the time pulls me to the door saying vroom vroom until I take him out there.

I've been teaching him how to launch

and he offered to build the block for me

Your getting that father son racing team started early.

Better believe it!

It's funny though. He has been the reason I've been wrenching on the car more. I've never seen a kid throw a tantrum crying saying vroom vroom until we go into the garage.

I hear you on life getting in the way. How do the dog setups look compared to your full dogbox? I can't wait to hear from someone who has run both.
