Hey all, So apparently i've waited long enough to do a thread on this.. So basically I picked this car up in march of 2012 for $1800 plus an 02 Oldmobile Alero. Little did I realize that the previous owner had done just about everything under the sun to screw this car up.. Here is how the car looked when I picked it up..

And yes, that is a GSX spoiler... WITH the low rise talon spoiler. So that was the first to go.. Followed by a quick compound buffing and wax and she turned into this..

Stock engine bay with blow through BOV... no speed density, no ECMlink and a hideous chipped spark plug cover..

About 5 months later, the ebay 16g's coolant supply hose ruptured on my way to school, leaving me stranded. At that point I began to upgrade this car, the correct way.
First round of upgrades... 20g MHI turbo, HUGE shoutout to justin for the beautiful snail!

As of 2/24/13- Due to the burst hose, I ran into a no-start issue. Huge thread created about it which most of you have probably seen. Turned out that the head was warped horribly by the overheat, and thus the build began. Sent the head off to be machined, including decked, hot tanked, new exhaust valves. She looked fantastic when i got it back!

Also sprang for some better upgrades. Cometic 4-layer head gasket, and a set of ARP Head bolts and studs!

Today we got the head secured down and torqued in. Also added my SS tubular manifold (heat wrap turned out shitty, but will work for now) Also had another shot of the 20g.

Next up was the fitment of the VRSF 2g FMIC. Core is fantastic and huge!!

Turns out the front sub frame needs to be cut away a little more to accommodate the inter cooler couplers, should be finished within the week. :hellyeah:


Also installed a set of EBC slotted rotors prior to the break down.. which sucks because now they look like this..

Test Fitted a 2ga front bumper, and i'm gonna go with it. Should be stripped and painted within the next month!

Also on the way are a brand new set of Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires to replace the balding ones on my car. Pics of those to come soon!

-Full Motul RBF600 Flush
-New lower control arms and ball joints
-DSMlink within the next week or two!
-PTE 1000CC injectors!

Not a bad start! Im not sure if you will have this issue with the 2ga talon bumper but for my 2gb bumper and the VRS FMIC I had to make some brackets to drop the IC about 2" down. There was a gap between the bottom of the IC and the mouth of the bumper. Drove me crazy!! Keep it up.
 
Thanks crash! Not sure about the bumper clearance yet, as I took the core off to make more room for the piping between the sub-frame and the radiator. I'll let you know though!

Also forgot a few things, Also installed an Aeromotive A-1000 AFPR. Also planning on replacing all the screw driver driven crappy hose clamps with T-bolt clamps on everything that has to hold a vacuum. Keep posted!
 
Looks good. Super jelly of the paint condition, I've got one fender on mine without clear-coat issues. once you get all the performance upgrades a set of clear corners would look awesome.

Any specific goals for the build?
 
Thanks guys! Hopes in getting her ready for the track in april. Other than that, about 350-400whp on current build. Once I get dsmlink things should really take off :)
 
Just another small update: Engine is pretty much back together, FMIC piping is mocked up and ready to be connected. Ordered a new BOV gasket, Mishimoto Rad hoses, and Mishimoto dual fan shrouds which ill be getting tomorrow morning from extremepsi.com! Here are a few teasers!

The car is running! I put up some video clips of it, just 2 for now. Still ironing out the AFC street tune settings, then waiting for a Water temp gauge sending unit and the tires and she'll be good to go. Here are some new pics as well! Enjoy!

Got the car back yesterday. Pulls like a bat out of hell with the 20g, thanks justin :) car does need a clutch pretty bad. Even at wg pressure (About 9 lbs ) the clutch wants nothing to do with it and slips its ass off. So next week Gonna be doing a clutch. Anyone want to give me a hand and get a sneak peek of her before the show?

I second pics with the bumpers on! Very nice looking build. Keep up the good work. Im glad to see another one went to good hands willing to do things right and fix previous owner's f-ups.

Soon to have her under the knife again to receive a stage 3 Southbend clutch and PP, powdercoated VC, DSMlink and PTE 1000cc injectors followed by a conservative tune at 18 lbs. :D So stay tuned!
 
Mmmmm so sweet. I think it'd look real good with the wing, but to each his own!

As for rubbing I havent seen anything yet. I have to remove it to put in a new bolt for the drivers side headlamp but im gonna check to make sure. It is kinda bowing out on the underside of it, as it does scrape a lot. Thinking of rhino-lining it
