MOD EDIT: thread cliffnotes: Dude claims to have built up car and took it to the dyno. In reality, the car never got built and never went to the dyno. OP photoshoped a dyno chart and made up the entire story to go along with it. This is a hoax. When called out, OP stayed silent. If you decide to read past this point, just know that this is a fraudulent build/story and that you're wasting your time.

I don't know how many of you remember and I don't know how many of you care, but I was rebuilding a 4G63 to put into my 1G DSM, I ended up finding out that my 1.8L Block had been bored out and decided to resurrect it and get rid of the 4G63 for rebuild money.

My 4G37 Has the Over Sized Works. It been bored 0.020 Over, its not alot but its potential, found this out by when I opened up my bottom end pulled the pistons out and realized they were practically brand new. I later on called the previous owner about this he didn't know anything about it, and gave me the number of the dude he bought it from.

He told me he had some machining done to the car when he rebuilt the bottom end at 185k miles and increased the bore.

So now I'm in this huge rebuilding this motor from the bottom end up.

Here's everything on my List that isn't Factory Spec (BOLD is I'm still waiting on the part or I don't have it yet. other wise stock for now)

*Bore 0.020 W\ The Works (not alot but it helps)
*Reground 272\260 Cam
*2.0L 4G63 Shaved Cam Gear
*4G37 Ported TB w\ Coolant Bypass
*Custom Intake Manifold (*ITB's later on in the future maybe)
*Gutted MAF
*Open Air Can Mod w\ High Flow Air Filter
*Intake Hard Pipe
*High Flow Cat
*Custom Headers
*2 1\2 Inch Exhaust System (Cat Back) (Custom Made with Big Name muffler haven't picked one yet)

*Ported Head (Maybe **Cyclone 12 Valve Swap In the Future)
*7K Redline
*Premium Rings + Bearings
*NGK Premium Plugs
*NGK Plug Wires
*Oil Catch Can
*A\C and Burden Pulley Elimination
*Stage 2 4G63 N\A Clutch
*Custom Lightweight Flywheel
*Maybe a Stand Alone ECU for the ITB's
*Custom Head Gasket
*Balance Shaft Elimination
*EGR Valve Elimination

The Great things about 1.8L 4G37 Motors is the Bottom End is practically a Tank, they can withstand tons amounts of abuse unless it is under HIGH Compression or Forced Induction, Along with the fact that The Stock 4G37 (8 Valve SOHC) and\or Cyclone (12 Valve SOHC) Valve train is made of Same Material as a 4G63T and can with Stand a 7k Redline stock these 1.8L motors are still in there Power Band at the stock Redline which is 6K.

I'm About Half way done with it I'm just now putting the motor back together, I hope to have it at least running with in 1-3 Weeks from now.

wow, just read this thread. very nice! :)
i currently have a 1.8 and want to do something to it, but didnt know there was really that much stuff out there for it.

and i hear the low budget!! haha, im in the same boat

Do some stuff to the 1.8L and continue to post about it. I want to see what you end up able to do with it. I have one as well as a turbo awd talon, and i want to possibly do up the 1.8 for fun and practice. Im thinking about chopping the top and making it targa top and side exhaust out the front bumper :)

I didn't know that the 1.8's even had balance shafts
Ya, that was a Mitsu thing with all of their 4 cyl motors was the included balance shaft conception. Even my 82 Dodge Colt with the G32B motor (1600cc) had a balance shaft in it.

I'd put on the exhaust manifold heat shield back on, or it will bake the paint off of the hood after awhile...but does look good.

Good luck-DSM

For all of you who didn't know, this guy lied about his dyno results. He was called out by the dyno shop and hasn't posted since then, so be careful as to what the OP said about performance results for certain parts. Don't want anyone to go spend a bunch of money for 3hp just cause this guy said it gave him 10.

So what I wanna know is can you just bolt in a 2.0 cam into a 1.8 head with no mods? Also I didnt realize you can take 2.0 injectors and mount them in a 1.8. Then what is this bout the cyclone12 valve head? I have a pretty good pick a part where I live and I believe I have seen the Cyclone head on some cars out there, so what I am curious about is can you just bolt that on a 1.8. Does any of this do anything to the performance? I have a 1.8 for time being and was wanting to play around with it while I build a 2.0 to do a swap with. also what is needed to do a 1.8 to 2.0 swap? Congrats on the build.

I had an Eclipse with a JDM 12v Cyclone motor in it (check my profile) and with that MCA-Jet configuration (all the third valve was for better fuel combustion by swirling the A/F mixture as it enters the cylinder). It did wake up the motor a bit esp in the upper end. I can spool down the freeway going 110mph plus and the danged thing still wanted to go on even faster with the revs over 5300rpm. This head will bolt up to a 4G37 block with no problems.

Nice thing on the head is that there is no hydraulic setup - all the tappets are manually adjusted with INT at .006 and EXH at .010 with settings on a cold motor.

I'm not suprised at all. Keeping the 1.8 just because it was .020 over... :ohdamn:

What were the dyno numbers? I skimmed through the thread and couldn't find them...

seems like a bad ending to a good build...dang

yeah, like i said LOL, i got a 1.8L the 4G63 weighs 450 lbs not to mention it has more equipment (becuase of the turbo) and also has a larger Transmission and exhaust..

So you're weighing it with the trans? I don't believe it weighs 450 with a FWD trans, maybe AWD. We weighed a 4g63 last year, including the turbo and heavy exhaust manifold if I remember right was just over 300 lbs. Heck, the shortblock I can carry by myself. A Ford 302 V8 doesn't weigh 450 lbs.

Did you know that 87.72% of all statistics are made up on the spot... That includes dyno numbers and how much something weighs

HAHA.. this makes this snowy day in michigan much better...

SHIT!! That means the weather man telling us that there is only going to be 6 inches IS ####ING LYING!!! I better get the GSX warmed up

Lol the OP says I'm irragant (he was shooting for arrogant i think) for calling him out on his bs in the 2nd page of the thread. Why do people feel the need to make stuff up? Even when the people they are lying too are knowledgeable about what they are lying about? Did that last sentence make sense LOL?

Hey I'm on da intrawebs and my moped is boosted on 76 psi with a garett gt 42 r. What fuelz do I run to make fast? ON da dyno i hit 4.6 jigga wats o powa. My girlfrindz try to hang on but dey can't because i has so many of dem dat hang on at once.

####ing A man!!!! I just wasted 2 precious hrs of my life reading this damn thread.

I'm pissed!!

Anyways.....

Back to my 4g63T threads that make my day easyer

ok so i just read this entire thread hoping, praying for someone to make the correction for me. I know this is lame and means nothing, but being an rx7 guy seeing him post that an FD had a "3 rotor" engine, but then clearly saying it was a "13btt" (which is wrong, its called 13b-rew) really annoyed me. the only production car that came with a 3 rotor engine was the Eunos Cosmo.
