No DSM stuff for Christmas for me either, but life will finally start to slow down so it feels like a gift after January rolls around.

The new car looks great Nathan! Good choice! Should be great with the family.

Glad to see some progress on others cars too.

Machine shop is behind schedule with the line hone. Should have some pic's of the 12.3:1 2.4L up soon =) Got a basic little forward facing manifold too i'll share.

Am i eligible for that 1/4 mile 14B timeslip challenge since i have a 4g37?
Welcome to the 14b thread Matt! Nice to see the little 1.8 is still hanging in there!

Sounds really nice :thumb:

Frontline Fabrications? I saw that on Facebook, VERY SEXY!!!!

Yup thats the one. I text andrew and he said he could make one. I just got a text at 4am this morning saying he got the studs for it. So it should be shipped out very soon.

Oh, the FF booster delete plate is sick. One of my dsms is already without a booster, so, I may do the delete in my AWD. However I think they are still ironing out the details on the exact master to use.

Im going to be starting out on either the 3g Master or the evo 8 master. Ive got both so itll be nice to see which one does better. The plate thats made is pretty sick.

Back to the DSM though, I am still hoping to ditch the stock front seats and automatic seatbelts in favor of a single lightweight Summit Racing seat and harness. Also hoping to at least get the doors gutted and fitted with Lexan in the next few months. That should get me below my initial goal of 2,200.

Thats gonna be one of the bigger weight reductions you can do. The seats and belts are so heavy compared to the aftermarket stuff.

Here's to a successful 2013 guys/gals! 14b FTW!

Hopefully a good good year for all of us 14B guys. Im looking forward in seeing other 14B cars hitting the track and all there setups.

Doing a little fab work!!

Yeah, for sure would be nice to see a good handful of us out there.

I'm one step closer to that...

ECMlink: Check!

It's about time Phil!

I gutted my passenger door but I don't have the Lexan or sheet metal yet to finish it up. Still, it felt good to get back to work on it!

It's about time! Going speed density, I hope? :thumb:

I've been sidetracked by my friend's FWD auto 20g project, we're pretty much wrapped up with it now so I should be getting back on mine soon. Like many of us, priorities have changed as I've gotten older (work, family, other cars) but I will definitely have it back out in the spring.

LOL! C'mon, you mean AFC2 isn't the best tuning tool!?

Doors comin' along....nice.

LOL.....no speed density though, I'd like to for the drags, but not for road racing. I can always switch it up.....

Why wouldn't you want it for road racing? It makes the car far more drivable in all conditions IMO, not to mention potential power gains.

I've been told it's harder to tune......and I'm not so certain it's worth a whole crapload on the 14b. I still might entertain it. Also, on the roadcourse, I won't need all the power anyway. I'll actually be dialing the car back from drag strip power for the roadcourse.

Plan is for car to be running mid-May....

It's very simple to tune, the base VE table probably wouldn't even need to be touched if you're still on stock cams. They have wizards to dial it in for you, and even if it's off a bit you're still in closed loop which will pull the AFRs where they need to be at part throttle. At WOT, you're tuning exactly the same way regardless of air metering. At the very least, get an AIT and MAP sensor for logging, and then you can play around with SD without committing to it. If you ever need a hand with it, let me know. I'm only a few hours away.

Less restriction. I'm glad my cars on speed density. Just looking forward to getting my ve table dialed in so I can get a better tweak on the tune. ECMlink is like the first upgrade you should get. Well unless your Phil :p

Ok, cool. I have no experience with it and have been used to a car that started and ran without fail everytime, and don't want to give that up. Wow, thanks, I appreciate the offer and may have to take you up on it!

I do have a set of cams slated to go in as a matter of fact. I'm in the process of trying to decide on a motor build, or just tossing the original bottom end back in the car...

:) I was at 12.0@113 on stock ECU tune BEFORE I tossed the AFC2 into the mix...

With the exception of a possible bottom end build, I've got 90% of my parts accumulated, even all the small miscellaneous gaskets and such. Don't wanna bother posting the whole list but a few things are:

-cams, springs/retainers, adj. gears, lifters
-6 puck sprung disc
-VRSF FMIC
-FIC 950cc injectors

There, that's short and sweet...

Well on our level I guess it's just getting that last little bit squeezed out. All around though I love speed density over any maf any day of the week.

What cams did you decide to go with?? I have the crower 413 but just had an offer for some hks 264/272 combo. Not sure if the swaps gonna be worth it. I think you should just continue to run the stock bottom end as long as its in good shape.

Oh, no doubt. I'm not even close to full power potential, but, it's time to move in that direction if I plan to run solid sub 11.50.

I've actually had my cams for the better part of three years, they are a special set of FP1X, made specifically for the 14b.

I have 2 ''extra'' engines aside from the original, so I have some options to build if I decide to go that route. I'd like to take advantage of a slight compression bump.

That is truly impressive. With the addition of those mods you may be able to grab back a spot or two. You giving the 1/4 another go are you?

And i wish i had some real data on the SD conversion as i never got a chance to really twist the wick before i sold her. But the improvement in throttle response alone was worth the effort. It was much more enjoyable to drive around town, being an auto 4cyl it sure wasnt before the conversion. I also maxed out the 450's a couple psi sooner then before, which was a good sign LOL.

Well, thanks. I'll go against what I said about acknowledging you here on the forums previously, it's a new year, hopefully we can keep it cordial at a minimum.

At the time I ran 12.0, the car made 265.9 AWHP, and AFR's were fat at 10.6-10.8:1 across.

The car was still a registered street car that I drove to the strip and it actually still had some decent weight on it.

Ok, so yet another vote for SD. Damn you guys!

I'm not ;)

For me it's just more money to dump at it, with not enough gain for the input. However, if I was running V3, I'd go speed density. With V2 I simply don't have the option.

It's not neccessary to run fast, that's for sure, ya know, just like ECMlink.....

Phil, your still proof that simple can still go fast!! I've been around tons of mild to wild dsm's and the fact that you are running what you run on the old school safc/eprom combo (without even datalogging) is amazing. I admire it and run the same combo myself at the moment.
