My 95 Mitsubishi Eclipse (420a 5 speed) is making a god awful noise on startup and when the clutch is pressed (on startup it doesn’t matter if the clutch is pressed or not). I’ve been chasing the noise for a while and so far have replaced the TOB, clutch and pivot fork, it’s not consistent to pressing the clutch but it’s almost always on startup. PLEASE HELP

Did you torque the flexplate and flywheel bolts to proper spec? Based on the vibration, something may be loose. I would remove the inspection cover and look for abnormal wobble or play of the clutch assembly. Check the torque of the 4 flywheel bolts while you're in there.

I haven’t messed with the flexplate yet but I’ve removed the cover and watched it and it didn’t seem to wobble or anything. I did notice after that the previous owner used a shorter bolt for the bellhousing in the rear( above the pass axle) and it was just hand tight. Would that be the cause? I hate to keep throwing money at it but idk how to properly diag it
