Looks like a 95-97 non eprom. Hard to tell exactly without the part number on the case.

If it were an eprom, there would be a long rectangular chip on the bottom right corner of the circuit board.

Although FWD turbo and AWD ECUs are interchangeable, they do not always have the same part numbers and are, as one would expect, not exactly the same in those cases when they differ (see: speed limiter). In fact only '95 models shared the same ECU between FWD turbo and AWD; all other 2Gs have different part numbers between the two.

The one pictured in the OP would be a MD335287; the AWD '97 ECU would be MD326328. The E2T6 number (the number on the white portion of the unit, 1687) is the tell and was referenced here: Eclipse Talon Laser Galant 3000GT Stealth ECU ID Reference.

That's how I can say FWD, specifically.

you dont need any numbers to tell if its eprom or not, that ecu does not have the eprom chip

I think that's been established a few times over already. The numbers themselves are important because of the differences between the '95-'96 and the '97 ECUs.

As is, it cannot use ECMLink. It would have to be converted to an EPROM.

No without an EPROM unit you can not use an ECMlink the EPROM is necessary to swap in the chip they send you in the kit.

If its a 95 or 97 it can be socketed and coverted. I had them do that to mine. Mine is a 97 ecu

185 just for the conversion. then dsmlink is additional. HOWEVER if you get dsmlink at the same time they lower the conversion to 145

$185 is only for the conversion to an EPROM ECU. ECMLink will ultimately cost more. E-mail Tom or Dave at ECMTuning and they'll be able to tell you all about it much better than we can.

Total price for linkv3 full with conversion of my 97 ecu was a little over 700 IIRC.
