ok first picture what are those 2 solenoid things for(located underneath the uppper intercooler pipe and throttle body elbow) and second picture i dont know if you can see it but there are 2 hoses underneath my battery tray, one large v. hose and another smaller one, i dont know where these hook up to and im thinking all of these has something to do to as why my car wont start, thanks in advance oh yeah im not sure if these pics will even turn out because i had to resize quite a bit...sorry if that happens in advance...

nope no leaks, ive checked just about everything except compression and the fuel injectors im stumped. when i got the car it started fine, had a big oil leak and started hard(washed out the engine bay a couple times too), got the leak fixed, started to start easier, now the thing cranks and none of the cylinders are coming on... it used to act like it would start up, now im stumped...

the things circled in green, im pretty sure they need solenoids attached but which ones? and about the second pic , what does that canister underneath the battery tray do?

whoops yeah that wasnt me...when i bought it i was sure they blocked it off but i didnt know that was for it . should i plug them or something? anyway this car is angering me a lot, i just cant find out why it wont start...

Those lines wouldnt really have much of an impact on whether the car would start or not. If i were you, and assuming you had a way to pass smog*ahem*, go ahead and remove the charcoal canister, and egr valve along with the rest of the vac lines. That link posted earlier to taboo's site will give you an idea of how to do it.

I noticed you mentioned you washed you engine. It is possible that you got that Cam Angle Sensor a little too wet. I'd try swapping it out with a friends to see if that might be the problem. All it takes is a little moisture to kill those things.

Good luck :thumb:

Have you checked for spark yet? Is your check engine light on? Let us know what you find out, could be many different things. Bad ECM, coil pack, fuel pump, many other things.

ok i have tested just about everything ecxept compression and i havent taken my fuel rail out to see if the injectors are spraying but my plugs are dry and had a lot of carbon on it I had got it to start once (barely) after installing new plugs and wires and shut it off then started it back up right away perfectly, but then let it sit a while and it woud not start or even act like it would start, just kept cranking. my mpi realy is good and so is the fuel pump and fuel filter, the ecu smelt a tid bit fishy and had a very small burn spot but nothing i was to overly concerned about. i think ive narrowed it down to the CAS or maybe a coolant sensor or something? also when i washed out the engine bay i used a lot of degreaser and very hot water to get off all the grime from the oil leak(did this twice)

i dont have anyone to switch CASs with , there arent many 1G turbos where i live, if anyone does or knows anyone, please get ahold of me [email protected]

oh yeah i forgot to mention there were no warning lights when i drove my car and started it hard...

is there anyway to check the CAS without having to replace it with a working one?(if it is the problem-i hope it is)

I had a similar problem to yours when the car would start sometimes but not always. My problem I was flooding the engine so I could smell gas sometimes depending on how long I cranked it I guess. The fix was the engine temp sensor. Make sure its the 2 wire one the one that goes to the ECU not the dash.

is it cranking but it wont turn over? or do you turn the key and it does nothing? might be something as simple as your battery.

im sure its not the battery, theres been a couple times when i got lucky and went to start my car and it popped right of ran perfect, also when im cranking theres no smell of fuel and my plugs are dry which also leads me to believe i have a fuel problem along with the CAS. Ive tested the fuel pump, its working and i know im getting fuel into past the filter, im just not sure about the injectors, but i dont see how they could be bad if i got my car to start those couple times and it ran perfect. Does the CAS go out right away or could it work sometimes and not others. Also what exactley happens when the CAS fails?

if you CAS goes bad then your car will have trouble starting up, run like crap, etc. i would look into that.

ok sorry to bring this one back up, turns out itss not the CAS, im getting spark and it ran fined when i could get it started. Its definately a fuel problem, i went to check the preassure in the FPR...there was no pressure, just a little fuel dripped out, i know my fuel pump works and my filter is good, does anyone know where i can go from here? thanks

do those o ring pressurize the the system or something? because i am getting fuel past the filter...

I think you just gave me a good idea why my car won't start because of no spark.

Well ive come to the conclusion the feul pump is not pressurizing the system so im going to replace that, and i might as well upgrade, what do you guys recommend for upgrading? i dont have any fuel controlers of any sort and my injectors are stock. any help would be awsome.
Also my fuel guage doesnt work and , could this fuel pump problem be the cause of that? or will i have to replace the fuel sender to get the guage to work? thanks
