Hey this is an off topic question. I couldnt post anywhere else due to being a newbie. I am fixing an old volvo v70... Why? Because my 90 TSI works perfectly and needs nothing! Anyway,, I pulled the turbo,, because thats whats bad on the car. Its Mitsubishi built TD04HL-13G. So, does anybody know if a TD04HL-15G will bolt up with no adapters? What would be the difference.. Nobody on the volvo forums even attempts to answer. I guess they all have MECHANICS work on their cars...Any help greatly appreciated.

Even if you can point me to a better, more active volvo tech forum,, that would be great. The one I joined has not been much help..

If they are both TD04HL turbos, that means they have the same turbine wheel. If the flanges on the housings of the two turbos is different, you can simply swap the turbine housing from the 13G and run the 15G.

Well, looks like the 15g flows more air and at a higher pressure too. So, either slightly bigger, or more aggressive compressor wheel.

Thanks for the info. I think what I will do is try and find a td04hl-15g and use that in my volvo project. I guess the stock v70 turbo is tuned for something like 7 psi. Its more for low end and quick spool. Those Swedes know a thing or 2. I took a test ride in an s60R and it was very very quick off the line,, and kept right on pulling with no perceivable lag or end to the power.

I ended up going with a td04hl-16T. Marketed as the stock turbo for the "T5" applications. Should be a mild improvement over the stock 13g. Looks like everything should just bolt up. I may have to fiddle with the stock boost solenoid, to allow the increased pressure. Far as I know, the injectors and fuel pump are all set to handle the upgrade.
