1G TCU replacements

I just bought a 1992 laser rs automatic. I am stuck in 3rd gear. Opened the tcu and a capacitor leaked. This is a daily driver and heard shift box may not be the best for that. I am trying g to find out if a non turbo tcu will well will my turbo car. Need a straight answer to many say it will and some say no due top shift points. Please help I am not finding a workin tcu anywhere.

It will work but as mentioned the shift points up top are different. The smart 100.1 shift box from forced four acts as a replacement for the tcu as well.

Thank you teamfury. And I will look into the 100.1 for a replacement being hard to find these tcu

I have seen a few MD750092's for sale out on FleaBay. Might check them out. I also have a spare but can't check it until I get my 92 Talon back up and running which should be SOON......crossing fingers!

The shift point are different for the non turbo, if u need to drive it everyday and that's all u have access to, use it for now.

Having a shift box is alot of fun with the auto. It makes less heat than the soft shifts of the trans computer. You can get better gas mileage granny shifting with the shift box. It's totally fine daily driving with a shift box, theres alot of us that use it for years with no issues.
DO NOT shift into 1st gear unless your under 10 mph. You can chirp the tires and you'll get some drivetrain shock, which isnt helpful.

Well i put in a good awd tcu and still stuck in limp mode i am at a lost here...only tcu i could find.someone in toledo ohio area that can help? This is frustrating.
