+1 talk to Tim. Not because Shep isn't a nice guy, but opinions from multpile highly skilled sources never hurts.

its so...biiiggg!' joke i can think of here::
I think i'm ready to give up and part it out
This just pisses me off!!!Well went to the track again to see what it would do, messed up on the launch so I cruised down the track. Pulled into the staging lanes to find out that the car was spilling oil every where! Took the timing cover off tonight, couldn't find anything wrong, so we took off the timing belt to find out that the oil pump gear was extremely hard to turn. Took the oil pump case off and inspected it, the stubby shaft was perfect but the other shaft with the bigger gear on it was screwed!!!
So with that being said, I don't know what i'm going to do,I think i'm ready to give up and part it out
This just pisses me off!!!

Sorry to hear that! I've seen that happen before when the car was over revved. A new front case/oil pump and all was well again. A decent used front case isn't all that much... you are so close with such a bad ass setup!
Yeah it just sucks bad!! Everything was brand new with less that a 1000 miles! I'm only reving at max 8800rpms. I just don't know what any other options are? It wasn't the stubby shaft failure, it was the other shaft and gear!
What brand pump was it? I have an OEM with straight cut gears in my 6bolt and I was turning 9000 with no problems, with a bsek. But I have a fluidampr just to be safe but that won't help the oil pump problem.
If Oakland was closer I would offer to give you a hand. One day when the cars are running we will have to get together and take them to the track.
Is that something I should do, the oem and straight cut gears? I'm trying to find out what is the best setup for it! As soon as I get this thing together, im going to the track again! On the old pump, the gear dug into the case on an angle! weird!!!
From what they say on the link forums is that the helical gears don't like the radial load as much as the straight cut gears. Removing the balance shaft causes more side to side not countered by the shaft itself.
I would make sure you file the edges of the gears that way there is no possible way for the gears to dig into the housing just in case.
Thanks man, will look into this!

I saw this while cruising through the classifieds.

, glad you got it fixed! Thats a good deal on the pump and the gear!Going to try again this Thursday to claim a 10sec pass! Maybe third time charm!
