OK, I was thinking about having a customer of mine who is a trans specialist do my trans replacement, but now I'm thinking bout doing it myself and save some cash. I already have the replacement trans, just gotta do the swap.

How difficult is the procedure? What all is involved, the procedure, car needing to be off the ground and what not?

Any and all help will be appreciated....:D

how hard depends on your ability, a few hour job a manual helps out a lot 25 bucks thats how i learned just a matter of steps to take, off the ground no did mine in my driveway.

My first trans removal was on my dsm. Wasnt really hard at all.

Jack up car
Remove intake and uicp
Remove slave cylinder
Remove shift cables
Remove tranny bolts
Strap up tranny to hoist or tranny jack
Remove tranny mount
Slightly move it towards the passenger side to pull tge input shaft from the clutch assembly
Drop tranny.

Reinstall is opposite

Its pretty easy and straight forward man. If you have a decent amount of mechanical ability it wont be a problem at all. Hardest part is getting the trans back up and mounted if you dont have a trans jack. Even with only a floor jack though its not that bad.

GRAB..SOME..BUDS!!!

Are you sure your trans is the issue and not a linkage or clutch adjustment problem? With it grinding im 2nd, 4th and reverse only makes me wonder about it possible being something other then the trans.

The current trans(which I'm still driving the car with) doesn't shift into 2nd, 4th, or reverse AT all. When trying to shift into any of those, it's like hitting a gear wall or something. 1st, 3rd, & 5th are fine. Except when I'm at a dead stop, I have to lightly feather it into 1st or it'll grind kinda bad.

Im not tranny expert by any meand but have you checked the linkage adjustment, clutch pedal, slave cylinder ect? You sure the clutch is fully disengaging?

New clutch master & slave cylinder. As far as I know it is disengaging, not issue with shift while running or slow roll. I think the linkage adjustment is fine, nothing is completely loose or what have you on top of the trans, buuuut, I honestly don't know how else to check that other than look and make sure the roller pins are knocked in and poke at it with a stick(not literally)

Yeah make sure to check everything including TOB, pivot ball, shifter arms etc.

But, if you need to replace -- FWD is SUPER-EASY compared to AWD.

:ohdamn:Ok ok, I know Imma probably get burned for this but better to definately know than act like I definate know.....but what is a TOB and pivot ball? Shifter arms I'm pretty sure those are the arms on the top of trans?

Throw out bearing(TOB) is connected to the clutch fork and is what actually presses up against the pressure plate releasing the friction plate. Pivot ball is the ball in which the clutch fork pivots on. You'll see both when you get your old trans off. Not a bad idea to replace both them. Or at least the TOB with an OEM only one. Dont get an autozone TOB
