I would suggest that you get some ARP's ASAP ! If you want to run anything over 21psi and not lift the head. I know a local who did exactly that, rebuilt bottom end fuel mods and a 50 trim at 23psi. Few weeks later did compression check and found that the head was lifting up. GET SOME ARPS !

I run a stock 6bolt motor, with ARP Headstuds and all supporting mods for a 50 trim, and I run it at 22/23psi with no problems. Of course that is tuned, you need to get some sort of logging software , i.e. Pocketlogger or DSMLink ( the way to go ) . Once you have that and some tuning done, I dont see why you couldn't run 25+psi.

Will everyone forget about the Evo for a second - the only question that needs answering here is if he can turn the boost up to 20psi. Please stay on topic.

You need to know a few things about your car and your fuel quality that we can't tell you. Only you can find this stuff out. You need to know the exact octane and how it compares to ours. When people say pump gas here, they mean 91-93 octane (US). You need to know your A/F ratio and knock counts. You need a logger. If you were able to post some logs, we would be able to help you out more.

Its an honor read your post in this thread Mr. Ludachris.
Thanks for advise, i gonna get a logger as soon as possible.
My friend Darkstar mentioned something about SCANMASTER III. Id like to know what do you think about this scan tool.
By the way, i decided to buy ARP studs, thanks for help.
I was thinkin crank up boost to 18 psi on pump, but i already got race gas (110 octane), now ill go 20 or 21 psi.
I hope everything will be fine on sunday.

Hi there, I was wondering, what would be an apropiate brake in period after the installation of the ARP studs??? Meaning how many miles of course.
Just for the record, we cranked up the boost up to 18psi on sunday for a few races and the car really improved in relation to the previous 14 it was boosting. Using race gas o f course(aviation gas really) which is rated at 100octane(not110 as previously posted).
Anyway and forgive me because this isn't certainly the place to post a video link, here is a small video of the talon ripping apart a Skyline R33 turbo(GT-S).

Thanks

cool, sounds good :)

Let us know how it goes.

Also as for logging, well, thats easy. Free software to be had, very cheap cables on Ebay, and a used laptop or Palm.

Get it setup, way way better for tuning and making power. Also its very nice for tuning drivability, mileage and diagnostic things when things go wrong.

There is no break-in period for head studs. I would recommend installing a MLS (multi layer steel) headgasket while you're doing the head studs. Cometic seems to be the most popular choice and the gasket usually costs between 80-100 dollars (us)
