Hi everyone, im new to this site and DSM's in general. And i've encountered a bit of a problem. I have a 1995 Eagle Talon TSI AWD and i was cruising down the road the other day and went half throttle in 5th to pass a slow car. And for some reason the car decided to keep reving all the way up to rev limiter. I freaked out and took the key out of the ignition and it proceeded to run and bounce off the rev limiter. I pushed in the clutch because it was frying my brand new stage 2 race clutch LOL! So once i took the key out it rev limitered for about 30 seconds and then died ....... So I fired it up  and it ran on 3 cylinder all the way home :ohdamn:...... So 3 days later i decided to finally look at it after being very dissapointed and it ran perfectly fine WTF... I did a couple 7 grand pulls and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it.. Did something go mad with my ECU? I really had no idea and would appreciate any feedback on the issues i am having....

Thanks!

This is ####ed up in so many ways.

Wire in an ignition kill switch just incase this happens again .

What about an alarm or key less entry system? That could cause an exposed ignition wire.

Well for some reason one of my ignition wire was really really lose and my spark plug wire was like half on.... This still doesn't really explain as to why it would accelerate without the key in...

Your linkage could have stuck for the original problem, i would investigate and make sure your linkage is in good shape. As for the running without the key, sounds like a possible ignition switch problem to me. Or could be wiring related.

Sounds like a wiring problem to me especially since the car continued to accelerate after the key was out of the ignition. It could also be a coincidence that the two problems happened at the same time. Meaning you could have a wiring issue with your ignition system and also the wiring connected the the rev meter.
