Hi,
I'm working on a 1993 galant with carbureted version of 7 bolt 4g63, I'm trying to use an stand alone ECU to run injector system. I know gauge cluster use distributor for tacho gauge, distributor has 3 wires 2 of them have 12 v and other GND. I need to know which wire is used to run RPM gauge in gauge cluster.
Any info?
 
On DSMs there are two different ways the gauge cluster tach is connected. The most common is to the tach output of the Power Transistor Module. It's used on the 91-99 4G63 DOHC DSMs. The original 90 DSM's used a tach gate that was attached to the Coil Pack and fed through a noise filter to the cluster.

None of the DSMs used a distributor with a 4G63 only with the 1.8L 4G37 in the base 1G NA cars. Those used a single coil and fed it's switching by the power transistor through a filter to the cluster. That's pretty much how the Galant SOHC 4G63s do it.

I need to run RPM gauge using my new ECU, it has tacho out put, How to wire it to gauge cluster?
I think I don't need noise filter
 
If the Galant is anything like it's DSM cousin, the back of the instrument cluster will be marked for the tach +.
 
Not sure what your asking. Do you need the pinout of the cluster to know where the input for the tach is?

Can I directly wire ECU tacho out put to run RPM gauge?
 
If the cluster has a marked post I would try it but as a test only.
