so i did some research and found these sites

http://vfaq.com/mods/gaugelit.html

http://vfaq.com/mods/wayback/BradBauer/electrical/find-o2.html

the first was named for the dimmer lighting switch for a boost gauge, but im guessing it can be for any gauge, right? but it also says that the more gauges you tap in to those wires, the dimmer your lights get, so then is there an alternative, or is it not that bad?

the second link gives you the place to tap in for an a/f gauge, its named for a 1g on the site, but does it work for a 2g too? now a stupid question, in the first line it says remove the blower cover, wtf is that? i may know what that is but just havent heard it be called a blower cover. also was that 02 sensor cable even plugged into anything? i just tap into that cable then?

thanks again for helping a learning newbie. :D

i actually just did this the other day for my 1g. The blower cover is basically the kick panel down by the passengers feet on the right by the door. The easiest way to tap into the o2 sensor is to lay on the seat backwards upside down and look up where all the wires are located. Mine was way up there and taped against the rest of the wires but it is a open end called a "spade" all you have to do is take a female or male connecter i cant remember which and plug it in there you will know what it is when you see it.. It should only have 1 wire feeding into the connecter but it is the only one just hanging out up there, mine was way up there though. As far as the lights going dimmer with the more gauges you have, i have my boost and a/f and it lights up the same as it did before. If you get other gauges i wouldnt do the same i would tie them into the cig lighter.

so u just teed in your boost and air fuel gauge into the dimemr switch? i was going to do the boost, a/f, and oil pressure, do you think that will be ok? and if i do tee it into the cig lighter, i wont be ablt to control when it turns on and off will i? real quick, another stupid question, the instrument cluster bezel is where exactly? thanks again.

The instument cluster bezel is the the "thing" that holds all your other gauges. Speedo, fuel, oil, RPM's, ETC.

You could also puchase one of these from autometer. http://autometer.com/cat_accessoriesdetail.aspx?vid=185
The reason i say this is because lets say for example, you're driving your car at night and your autometer C2 gauges are way to bright (know from use). So with the newly added "dimmer switch hookup" idea you decide to dim your gauges. Uh ohhh, the whole instument cluster bezel goes dim too, now i cant see anything what do i do? To answer this question you buy another dimmer switch.

the only way to tell if the three gauges will dim everything hook it all up and see without finalizing everything just do rough wiring and see before you go out and buy another dimmer like he said which is a good idea but if you dont need one then why spend the money right. When you get everything hooked up the byron raceway opens up in a few weeks come over here and see what you get for time its only 15 mins south of rockford.

hey that dimemr switch is pretty neat, but true that if i dont need to spend $30 for the thing why do it. i was thinking about hooking them all up roughly as well too see how it goes, just like you said pitbull. i have the autometer phantom, you guys think those will be fine in brightness? how do you get the instrument bezel out? is there screws or you just pop it out with a flat screwdriver? thanks again guys.:thumb:

theres actually a page that does a step by step to take the bezel out along with the dimmer switch wire code so you know which one to tap into for ground and for hot. I will try to find it but if you search for dimmer switch gauge install you might come up with it but i should be able to find it later today

nice explanation and pics, the only difference i see hes doing that i wont be is connecting the a/f 12v power source to the cigarette lighter. hey if u do connect any gauges to the cigarette lighter, i know they will turn on when you turn the key, but they will always be on wont they? thanks. by the way i love pitts my gf has two brothers.:rocks:

when your car is turned off the gauges hooked to the cig lighter will be off and when the car is on it will turn on you just can adjust the brightness. but if you hook the up to the dimmer they will only come on when your gauge lights come on...Yes i love pits too i have two in my house and i rent a barn 5 miles away that i raise and sell pits out of. If you know anybody interested in some many people all over illinois say i have the nicest but nastiest pits around it just depends what you are looking for. this has been in my family for 44 years and no one has ever reported any of our dogs to "turn" on them unless abuse is obvious torward the dog

when you hook a gauge up to the cig lighter u can still adjust the brightness? how? well she had two pitts, the brindal one got sick for the third time and when they took him to the vet they found that his kidneys completely shut down on him and they put him to sleep. it was horrible whatching the family cry over his death :sosad: , he was a brother and son of theirs. hmmm how much you sell your pitts for? thanks

i sell my pits for $500 w/o papers and $2500 with papers. i do all the training with them for wutever you want and stand behind there health for as long as they live unless there was signs of abuse malnutrition and so and so forth but i guarantee it will not be from genetics.
