Where are you guys buying this turbo for 300 bux or cheaper? I want on of this turbo for the low.

I love to see pulls on the Dyno in 3rd and 4th to see how the torque curve look. Base on the two posts about the hx52, I am under the impression that it is pretty laggy. Can you get a copy of the Dyno sheet with rpm vs tq and hp from the dyno place?

I like to see it on a Dynojet too just in case the Mustang Dyno is really masking the potential of the Hx52. My friend has a Dynojet. From my experience, the Dynojet will read very close (10-25hp) to a Mustang and sometimes even slight less. However there are reports of Mustang and Dyno dynamic reading significantly less than a Dynojet. With that said, it would be good see if that is the case. Maybe the hx52 is more badass than what you are seeing. If you get a chance Dyno again , please let us know.

UrbanSmoker, iff you know a good machine shop man, and you know what your doin its releitvley easy the hard part that will test your skills is connecting the hx52 center cartridge to the bep .70 turbine housing. It has to be converted from 4-bolt, bolt up pattern to 4" V-Band

I plan to do another dyno mission on Friday. Monty the auto instructor said he'll meet us there very early in the moning when its still. Cool and crisp out and not hot. I plan on having a upgrade exhaust and a new meth mixture with a differant tune. I'm hopinng to squeez 650 out of her

It is hard to approach a thread like this where no constructive criticism is accepted ,but i'm gonna try the nicest way possible.

All i can say is you should try to use some e-85 or equivalent (or maybe your friend) just to see something impressive out of that size of turbo and spooling levels (i'm not saying its not, its just that i expected more.) Maybe if you really max out the turbo we can see the potential on that housing.
I understand is a Mustang dyno, but why do we even have Dynojets? they are just wrong in my book.

I'm not gonna compare this 2 i know it will be apple to oranges on prices, but a GT3586r did 830AWHP+ on a Mustang dyno, so for a turbo this size i would like to see how close this can get.
I tune cars every other week and i can tell you with 23* of timing (even though its not knocking) i don't see you getting more out of it and i you do it wont be safe. Methanol might not knock just yet but that doesn't mean its not on dangerous levels just yet (again just constructive criticism and my experience with methanol not causing knock to warn you) This is the reason i tune based on knock levels just on straight Pump gas, however with a different fuel, boost levels can be increase by a lot (i'm more than sure you know).

Those it have way more in it, yes we all know it does, the thing is some people wanna know how much more, that's why they are like "i expected more". That is it.

I have magnus 40 mins away. I'm aware of what it intales,
Ive been following along :) i also have both turbos infront of me.

Kidtsi, i dont think he is going to be the one to push that turbo, now me on the otherhand i would be satisfied with 900hp on a new stronger motor with that turbo. He seems satisfied with his numbers and like he doesnt wanna push it to potential which he kinda said earlier.

Thank you for the respectful response, i'm more than aware of this and i do accept your constructive criticism. Theres a couple very small upgrades that are simple for my set-up and should help bring those numbers up some.

Example, my "no-cat-back" exhaust will be upgraded from 3 inch to 3.5 inch. this should lower my back-pressure a bit in my upper RPM band and help unlock a few ponies. My 1G non-turbo 60mm TB should be upgraded to a 75mm TB. Again, why have 3" intercooler piping if it has to squeeze through a 2 3/8" hole befor entering the plenum? a simple TB change should help the engine's top end breathing. Another change will be made on the boost-juice mix. Im no longer gonna be using windsheild wiper fluid and heet. I'll be using real live pure methanol non deluted.

With the simple changes made to the set-up, some time needs to be spent on the tune. Monty the dyno instructor is gonna let us in there super duper early in the morning when its still cool and crisp out. last time it was 80* outside...

900 ponies is constantly flirting with disaster, i think those super high horse 4bangers are greedy pumpin out that much ponies. for a true real live race car thats only gonna drive 1300 feet at a time, sure, absolutley 900HP! more the better boy! but for a everyday car that you haul a baby daughter girl in and take your old old grandma to the store in, 600 is plenty enough:thumb:

I daily drive mine :D but your right, if i was pushin 900 it would be a track only trailered everywhere car. Which after i buy a truck someday, thats my plan. I'm trying to keep up with dave on the hx40 record but with the heavier 2g chassis (he's at 2300#). So i probably won't even change to the 52. But damn is it tempting. I only bought it to rebuild for experience so incase my turbo blew I'd know how to service it myself.

I also dont know enough i have and maintain a 900hp car LOL

I made over 800hp on three different cars and two different Dyno's. I trapped mid 130's at 32psi with a stock 4g61 colt at 5800ft. Around 400hp 250tq uncorrected and 2400lbs with driver.
